Two sons in Texas getting blasted by Wild Bill, one near Victoria, and one near Dallas and all OK so far. Be careful, fellow Oklahomans! Stay safe.
HutchâŚdid your wife make it home ok?
Mind Blowing!!!
Yes Linda, thanks for asking. Seems like the worst went around us.
Glad to hear that HutchâŚsome here in Oklahoma like Davis, Ardmore and Healdton really seemed to get some really bad rain storms. Several roads closed.
Stephenâs and Carter Counties have gotten the most rain so far this evening. Weather said 5 to nearly 7 inches there. Suppose to get worse as the night and tomorrow goes on. Turner Falls area around Davis and Ardmore has had flash flooding already. Heard Dallas area was really bad too. Praying everyone stays safe!
Linda, section 15 estimate is > 4 million bps/oil and >75 bcf of gas.
That is the recoverable estimates. They estimate 40 million bls oil and 150 bcf gas in the ground. I hear that other shale plays are re-fracking older wells for 50% of original completion cost to increase flow rate, total production and life of well.
Michael JoslynâŚfill those DOâs in and rush them back to them and when you get those big checks donât forget us really good forum friends! hehehe Just kidding! Congratulations!!!
HalâŚthe names given to locations are given to them after they drill a well and the locations are usually named after the land owner where the pad is located. The Poteetâs were drilled on land owned by the Bob Poteet Family. His wife was named JoAnn and there is a JoAnn well or two also. His daughterâs last name is Branch and she owned the land where the Branch wells were drilled. The Jarod well is named after the grandson of the Poteetâs. The first Mashburn well was named after the Mashburns that own Section 33 3n4w but for some reason the subsequent Mashburns were drilled from Section 4, 2n4w which is owned by someone else (maybe the Condits). Donât know why that happened. Maybe they couldnât come to an agreement on price of the additional locations. The descriptions you mentioned will probably be named after any wells (and pad owners) they were drilled on if any wells are there already. When they were drilling vertical wells down there in the past one section may have lots of different names on the wells because they didnât include the whole 640 acre spacing. Now when the horizontal wells are drilled across the length of the section and may across one or two more at the same time they usually name it after the pad space owners and subsequent wells might be named like Poteet 1, 2, or 3 H (for horizontal) and might have X or XL (I believe) after them meaning they go across more than one section You might check around your descriptions for names of people that live around there now or at least own the land to find out how the well was named. Also different companies name there wells differently. For instance Citation names their wells on at least the section where some of our family own minerals down around Velma with names that start with âBullâ like "Bull Rider, Bull Shark, Bull Dozer, Bull Moose, etc. etc. etcâŚlol Donât ask me why. Hope this might help in your search! Good Luck!
Received division orders for the Mashburn wells today!!
I notice that you all use names such a s âMashburnâ or âPoteetâ. What are the names for the following if you have them? 1-1S-5W, 2-1S-5W, 2-3S-5W, 7-1N-5W, 11-1S-5W, 12-1S-5W, 22-2N-7E, 25-1N-5W, and finally 36-1N-5W ? Thanks for anyone that wants to take the time to name them for me.
Hal, you can look them up on the OCC site.

use a leading zero 0101S05W for example as the first one. Type that into the LOCATION box. The good thing about this site is it gives you the permit, the completion, survey, casing, etc for each well. Form 1001A is the Permit which tells you that it is the HAYS 1-1H, 1002A is the completion. 1002C is the casing, SURVEY is survey, etc. You can also see every well that was in the section. Sometimes you have to look in the surrounding eight sections if the well does not spud in your section. I usually save the file as a .pdf digitally and also print them out for my paper files. If you look at the top left corner on the completion report, you will see the PUN number. You need that to check the OK Tax Commission site for sales. Now you are empowered!
Another little tid bit of info. a friend of ours just sold approx. 120 acres of his homeplace to Newfield. Said he finally got the price he wanted and seemed pleased. The land is about 7 or 8 miles south of Lindsay and on the west side of the highway (think itâs probably back west for a few miles off of highway 76.
M. Barns, The Hatchet 1H-33X and the subsequent 1H-33XR with SHL in Sec. 9 2N-4W, being a springer well to be drilled up into Sec. 4 2N-4W and on up into Sec. 33 3N-4W was aborted by Newfield. Can you learn why? The completion report states that it is a straight hole----Dry.
Thank you. Richard
Gay, Read each Kelly DO. These are multi-unit wells. Your general royalty (3/16ths, 1/4, etc) will be the same due to the terms of the lease or FP, but each well may have a different length and different perfs in each section, so the ultimate royalty interest for each well may be slightly different due to differing perf percentages in your section.
If they are different, then sign each one. Keep a copy for yourself and put in your files. Send the originals back (with a W-9) by certified mail, return receipt.
If you have horizontals that are only within one section, then the royalty interest will usually be the same for each well. After the first well, they usually only send a courtesy letter that they are using the first DO as a guide. I personally fill out a NADOA form for each well and send it back anyway so I have a DO for each well. May help to have full documentation somewhere down the road if wells get sold.
Division Orders are not out for the Kelly wells yet. I dont see them coming until August or September, by my calculations.
I saw the results on the first two Kelly wells. How did the others turn out?
Newfield finally posted April sales on all 5 Kelly horizontal wells. Do we have to sign a division order for each well?
Thanks, M Barnes. I donât actually have the DOâs yet, just wondering how many they will send. The few I have looked at basically show 68% payout to Section 11 and 32% to Section 14.
The completion reports show:
2H-22X 1476 BBL 3576 MCF
3H-11X 1978 BBL 4537 MCF
4H-11X 1195 BBL 2889 MCF
5H-11X 1316 BBL 3781 MCF
6H-11X 931 BBL 4168 MCF
Of course the actual production for April isnât near that, but:
#2 87287 Gas, 16926.85 Oil
#3 102469 Gas, 15609.48 Oil
#4 82259 Gas, 15628.12 Oil
#5 84864 Gas, 16279.97 Oil
#6 60999 Gas, 10736.21 Oil
