Stephens County, OK - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Hello out there in beautiful Stephens County, Oklahoma. I was just wondering if there is any activity in or around Section 7-1N-6W that anyone might have heard about. Been away from this forum for a long, long time.

I’ve been anxiously looking for info on Section 6 Township 2N Range 4W and Section 7 Township 2N Range 4W and noticed that Magnolia Petroleum has these wells on their quarterly updates. They have several of the wells listed as logging. Just wondering what “logging” actually means. Any ideas?

“Logging” is when the operator sends electrical tools down the hole on a special cable to measure the characteristics of the formations. They try to measure density, porosity, permeability, hydrocarbon saturation, water saturation, rock types, etc. It helps them determine where to perforate or whether the well is “dry” and has no hydrocarbons.

Martha- thank you

Jennifer sounds like a “M. Barnes” question to me. My hubby could tell us about the logging but he has retired (for the night). lol

Zachary, Continental and others did a lot of leasing in 2014, so don’t expect too much action until 2017, especially since prices fell so far over the last year. They are creeping up. But I don’t expect too much activity in this gas zone of the Woodford until the gas prices come up significantly.

Ditto thanks from me! Anything happening in Section 16 Township 2N Range 5W yet?

Barbara, Newfield pooled 16 in July 2015 for a multi unit well with 21 at $2000 3/16, $1500 1/5 or $0 and 1/4. Well supposed to spud one year from July 27, 2015 or they have to give it up or pay new bonus. I don’t see a permit yet.

Thank you, Mr. Barnes. I appreciate the heads-up!

Thanks so much for letting me know! I thought it should be any time now.

“Best in Class” is one of those goofy advertising phrases that really doesn’t mean anything.

This was sent to me from Newfield. Notice how fast and cheap they drilled the “Best In Class” well. http://files.ctctcdn.com/c15c174c401/abc697eb-7f5d-43b4-b5d5-ce788d9c23f1.pdf

Probably doesn’t mean anything except to the ones dragging in the checks. Here’s some more good reading for those of us that couldn’t sleep early this morning: http://seekingalpha.com/article/3984036-continental-resources-stacking-profits

Michael Hutchison: royalty payments down this month for Whatleys and Poteets. Do you have any information on these wells? My brother Royce suggested I ask you or other forum members. Perhaps additional fracking or nearby fracking or well servicing? Any info is appreciated.

Thank you Michael, I so much appreciate your response. “Doozy” is correct for sure based on previous stubs. Thanks again, Michael.

Noticed in the public records for Stephens County there has been more oil and gas leases signed in Section 34 2N 4W in the last week to 10 days. The latest being to Ward Petroleum and the very last being to Newfield. Wouldn’t mind if Newfield would drill that “In My Dreams” well instead of Continental. Either/Or/Or Someone Else would do just as long as they know how to write checks! lol

Finally let hubby upgrade my computer to Windows 10 and loving it. Thought I had lost my favorites including the Mineral Rights Forum until he figured how to transfer them. Now, I’m happy again…if I could just get my internet service to speed up a bit.

Call the county clerk and ask them how to do it. If you have the court dockets from probate, it might just need an affidavit of heirship letter. They can tell you.

Mr. Gambill, the check stub this month is a really doozy… 17 pages! Only wells 1, 2 and 10 had any production to speak of. I learned that the other 7 wells have been shut in, why and for how long I don’t know. I have asked around and hopefully I’ll find out more. Maybe they are waiting for higher prices.
