Stephens County, OK - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Mr. Gambill, the check stub this month is a really doozy… 17 pages! Only wells 1,2 and 10 had any production to speak of. I learned that the other 7 wells have been shut in, why and for how long I don’t know. I have asked around and hopefully I’ll find out more. Maybe they are waitng for higher prices.

Our check from Continental was down again to nearly nothing. It’s about 1/2 of what it was last time. That’s on the Claudine #1. Our check from Newfield was up a little from last time but down to about 1/10th of what it started out to be…so if we had a day job we would not be quiting it but we don’t so we’ll just keep on keeping on counting every little bit a blessing!

Where is the best place to look for activity on leases I have in Section 31-T2S-R4W and in Section 26-T2S-R4W? There was much activity last year before and during the pooling, but I haven’t heard much since. I assumed we would start seeing some action during this part of the year.

Jon, you can watch for permits here. Type in 3102S04W or 2602S04W in the location box. If the well is planned for a surface location in the section to the north or south, you would have to look there.

Can I apply to the county court in which I have (inherited from my dad) mineral deeds to get them transferred into my name & my kids’ names, or do I need to go through a lawyer?

Hutch- are some of the Poteets shut in? Wonder if it’s because of the activity in sec 6 and 7 --02n 04w------ most of which are drilled from section 18 02n 04w? I noticed the super small amounts on some of the Poteets… 2.14 cents, 2.28 cents etc… Hey at least it’s not $26.00 a bbl and $1.92 for nat gas right now!

Jen, you may have a point there. I haven’t been following things as close as I used to. Maybe it could be some nearby fracking as Ralph mentioned.

The problem with that theory is Poteet #10 is closest to sec 18 and it is producing.

I bet it’s because they want to save it until the price go up. Guess it’s the best place to store it (in the ground). Hope that’s the reason. We haven’t seen our CR and Newfield wells posted yet so don’t know if ours are down or not.

Thanks Hutch- I sure hope so! Happy 4th everyone!

Linda, give me your bank account number, I know a guy in Nigeria who’ll send you millions!

I heard all the Poteets are now back in production. Hopefully we’ll start seeing some better checks in Aug and Sept.

Yes, maybe those wells that weren’t on production will come back like a lion! Just when the prices are making a rebound…and you can loan me some money! lol

I believe he already has my number Hutch…at least my phone number and he interrupts my nap often! lol

CR is drilling a new well in SE corner of the county. Looks like about sect 7, 3S3W.

Max, I didn’t see a current well for sec. 08 02n 05w. But that doesn’t mean that Newfield isn’t planning one, or more. This area has been hot for sometime now. If you received a notice and have the cause #, or order number, you can look it up on the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. Under Industry, select oil and gas. There are no taxes on mineral rights unless they are producing. If it’s land and mineral rights, you would pay taxes on the land but not mineral rights unless they are producing. Yes, the company would have to pay the owner or heirs if they are producing. You can check the Oklahoma state treasury for lost money or property. Just google Oklahoma lost money. Check your relatives names. If the oil company can’t find you or the heirs, it is sent to the state. Once you probate, or prove you are a rightful heir, they will send it to you… Others are much more knowledgable than me, so hopefully someone else will chime in soon!

Max, Don’t sign a lease until you’ve done your homework! There are lots of things to consider before you do. Others on the forum can help you once you figure out exactly where you stand and what you are really looking at. If a land man has contacted you or family members, they have a way of putting pressure on someone who doesn’t know what to look out for.

Michael H, thanks for update info on Poteet production being resumed.

I am new to all of this and was wondering if anyone knows if there is any activity in section 8Township 02N range 05W. Also would like to know who I would check with to find out if there are any past due taxes as my father passed away 10 years ago and we just now heard about this. I understand that a company called new field is currently drilling on this property. Will this company be obligated to pay the back royalties once we have filed all of the paperwork associated with being the legal owners now after such a long time.

Max, Newfield filed four cases at the OCC in 2015 for section 8 & 17

201503166 horizontal drilling and spacing, 201503167 horizontal, 201503168, location exception, 201503169 pooling-you need to check for his name. You may have money coming if he was not leased already. Newfield has one year from Sept 3, 2015 to drill. I do see a Reed in the pooling orders, so they are looking for the heirs.

You can find the other docket numbers on the same OCC website. Just type the case number into the box.

I do not see a permit yet, but there are a few months to go. You can watch for it at the below website. Type in 0802N05W in the location box.
