Linda, you are so right. I had to postpone about $10,000 worth of dental work. Glad we didn’t bet the bank on anything.
There are multiple distribution centers around. A tire company in Ardmore. They all need forklift drivers. Good Luck, Randy!
My hubby and I are making plans and saving up to move to Costa Rica next year. We can no longer afford health care here.
If anyone thinks the low oil prices are good for anyone in this part of the country they are wrong. Even my husbands eye specialist yesterday said it has really hurt his business. He said people even with much need of eye care to save their eyesight have quit coming to his office for their treatments because they don’t have the money since the slow down of the oil field. The hotels hurt, the restaurants hurt, the doctors, lawyers and candlestick makers all hurt. Everyone around this part of the country would rather pay more for gasoline and have their business back.

Barbara…get a place there that has a guest bedroom. We may have to move in with you…lol This back surgery I’m doing in a few days was nearly $20,000 out of pocket because the facility didn’t accept Medicare. Just glad we saved some when oil was high or we might have had to do the surgery in an ole barn somewhere! lol
Guys, about health care costs: Several months ago I overheard two women talking at the rec center, and one was telling the other about a relative whose husband had had some dire condition that had gone on and on, and some kind of surgery was recommended that they couldn’t afford and their insurance wouldn’t cover. They were afraid they were going to lose their house. She said they finally signed up for Affordable Health Care and got the surgery done, and the young man is doing fine. She said they’re thankful they finally stopped listening to everybody who told them to stay away from “Obamacare” because they hate the president. Sooo, maybe politics shouldn’t get in the way of a possible solution to a health problem. I don’t know what the requirement for eligibility are, but it sure works for some people.
I never thought I’d see the day when our health care delivery system totally failed, but for many of us, it has. I had to order special eyeglasses on Friday that are going to cost me about $600 and take 3 to 4 weeks to make, then call to cancel my appointment with my cardiologist and all the tests he scheduled me for. I gave up most of my meds almost two years ago so my husband could buy his, because he’d just gone through a heart attack, a triple bypass, and three months later, brain surgery. We were 100% covered with a Medicare supplement then, but when he lost his job due to his illnesses, we had to drop the extra insurance. I told my cardiologist about our plans for Costa Rica, and he also said to keep a room open for him! For under $100 a month, BOTH Hubs and I will be 100% covered for absolutely everything medical, including medications, in Costa Rica! Lots of people go there to have dental work, too. 50% of the docs in one hospital are American trained. And they make house calls! I can go to a foreign doc here, or I can go to a better one there, so we’re choosing to go where over 50,000 other Americans have gone, plus Canadians and Europeans. This old world is changing mighty fast. I’m seriously thinking that any extra bedroom might just become a bed and breakfast, so maybe you can come stay with us for a while, Linda! Somebody is breaking ALL our backs.

Linda, best of luck and prayers for a successful surgery. So sorry they didn’t take your insurance…bummer. Also, would appreciate prayers for these earthquakes to STOP! We are in NE Edmond…very frightening…not much sleep…damage (hope only cosmetic) and they continue today. We have been from 1/2 mile to 3 miles from epicenter of all the big Edmond ones. Thanks

Barbara…so sorry to hear about your having to go to Costa Rica to get help on your hospital and doctor bills! I heard that’s a really nice place to live. Actually our Medicare and Supplement has taken care of all our bills for the other surgeries and things we have had done but I did call and ask if we could get on Obama Care because some doctors have started not accepting Medicare and they said I couldn’t get on it as long as I was qualified for Medicare. Thanks everyone for your prayers and S D I’m especially praying for no earthquakes up there because that’s in the area where my laser surgery will be starting at 9:00 in the morning. Don’t know what Laser would do in an earthquake but I shudder to think!!! I’m not afraid of death but just afraid of being messed up physically and left on this earth in that condition. But I’ve got a lot of super people praying so things will probably go well. Maybe I’ll be able to be tracking rigs again soon…wouldn’t that be great especially if we get that oil price back up and have new rigs to track!!!
