Garvin County, OK - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Rick, Most of mine are in the springer or Purdy units. Do they ever go down and drill a horizontal well in my areas? Tom

Linda my prayers are with you and your family.

Julie…The Section 33 that you are talking about would be in Garvin Co. wouldn’t it? You said 2n,3w.

Thanks for the info. Vicki. Guess that’s the same well I was talking about running the pipe in earlier! Yea!!!

Tom,

Merit has recompleted 10 or so in the last 5 years in 4N-4W. 2 of those were in section 35.

Sorry, I thought I was on the Stephen’s Co. group when I started talking about the Branch wells. They are in 2n,4w of Stephens not Garvin but we’re so close we could be kissing cousins!

There is one they did that to in 2011.

It appears it was a vertical from the 50’s in the Springer formation.

Linda, my husband works for Tilley Trucking out of Marlow and is on a ā€œcement jobā€ on one of the Branch wells as I speak.

linda: tsp 1n-1w sections 1 thru 36. any news?

They were putting gravel on the location yesterday and today where Newfield is going to drill north of Lindsay on Highway 76 about 8 or 10 miles on the East side of the highway. This is a Section where our friend Larry and his brothers own some royalty. Brad Odom wasn’t that in McClain Co?

Tica,

Lemley Oil completed 4 wells between March and July of 2012. All in section 24. The one well I checked, VAUGHAN 6 was a vertical with 8/64 choke. It produced 0 bopd and 48 mcfd of gas.

Thank you David!

Hi Linda, yes, that was Sec. 33 2N-3W in Garvin that I was wondering about. You wrote the following after that:

"They were putting gravel on the location yesterday and today where Newfield is going to drill north of Lindsay on Highway 76 about 8 or 10 miles on the East side of the highway. This is a Section where our friend Larry and his brothers own some royalty. "

Were you still talking about Sec. 33 2N-3W?

Julie…No Sec. 33 3n,4w is south of Lindsay on the south border of Garvin where it meets Stephens. I’m sure you know it is where they have the Mashburn that was drilled to Sec. 4 2n,4w in Stephens and the second Mashburn which was drilled across Section 33 itself.

Julie…the location I was talking about them graveling north of Lindsay I believe is in McClain. It might happen to be in Grady but I know it’s not in Garvin. It’s too far north of here.

Linda, thanks for clarifying…it’s hard to follow threads sometimes!

Tica, the only thing new I see is Southstar pooled 15-1n/1W for a 15,000ft. verticle and Explo pooled section 12 for a 5000ft. verticle. 1W is a bit to the east of the main play, it may have promise for the future.

To Tom Roberts and anyone else in the Purdy Hart or Springer units. It is my understanding that Merit who is the operator (and their predecessors) of both of these units is and has been using enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods of waterflooding and CO2 injections to squeeze the last hydrocarbons from these formations since the early sixties. Each wells share of the production from these units was set when the unit was formed so no matter what they do to an individual well you are unlikely to see any noticeable difference in your allocation.

It is also my understanding that Merit is privately held and we will therefore not see any presentations like those made by CLR or Newfield and we will remain in the dark. One glimmer of hope is that Newfield did pay for 3D seismic in portions of these units and they or CLR may eventually make a deal with Merit.

One last thought. On this forum I believe I have seen reference made to OK law that there is an implied obligation for the lessor to develop the minerals. If there is that obligation and since it is now proven that the Woodford and horizontal drilling are economically viable in these units maybe there is some leverage. If not we just have to sit by and bide our time until the drillers and operators get around to it.

It sure is, especially when members like me ramble so much from one description to another! I don’t remember the Sec., T/R or even the county that I was told the location is being built north of town. We were told by P’s golfing buddy that he and his brother owned a piece of the royalty on that one but my memory fails me often.

I received a call yesterday from Larry Casazza of Integrity Oil who inquired about my mineral rights in Garvin county, Sect. 7, 3N 4W who said he wanted to lease the rights for a unit to drain 640 acres in the Woodford shale layer at 10,000 feet. If you are interested in hearing his offer, his number is (509) 591-5865.
