So have I got this straight…If we leased to Continental and Newfield has 34 HBP with that 700’ now that means that Continental or anyone else can’t drill in that section from now on as long as that well is active? Sure doesn’t seem right. I’d think CR would contest that.
We didn’t put any depth clauses in our lease.
The permit for the Mark1-H27 called for a 34/66% split with about 2600’ of the planned 7600’ lateral going to sec 34. The total length was to have been 21028’, according to Ryan the completed length was 19100’. If that is the case they pulled up short by about 1900’ resulting in the measly 700’ of lateral in sec 34 or the 12.5% Linda mentioned. For your sake Linda I hope the completion report shows some better numbers on your end.
Depends on the spacing order and your lease (or pooling if you’re pooled but I know you aren’t ;)). Didn’t look it up but I’m sure Newfield pooled 640’s for both sections and created a multi-unit 1280. Nothing you can do.
Depends on depth clauses
Saw them moving the parts to a drilling rig this morning. It was headed south of Lindsay on Highway 76. Wonder who the lucky mineral owners are this time.
Newfield applied for emergency permits to drill 6 of the 8 wells they are planning for Sec 26 into 35. Surface location is Sec 23 near the Newfield office on the old Halliburton Ranch. Perhaps that is what you saw Linda.
Also a rig was still sitting on what I believe might be section 14 2n4w. What is that one called?
Yes, guess it was as that rig was up and running yesterday when I went through to the dentist at Marlow. (It is there by Newfield’s new office.) There was also still that rig that is setting north of the Pearl Assembly of God Church. It looks to be on the north edge of maybe section 19 2n4w. Anyone know what well that is and what sections it includes?
Just want to say hi and try to get caught up. I had to step out for a while to have my gallbladder taken out, then 4 days ago I had a heart attack. They haven’t put me 6 feet under yet, so still watching!
We have a property leased to Newfield. I recently received an OCC notice of “order dismissing cause” basically saying that Newfield’s previous requests were being withdrawn because “applicant does not intend to drill”. Does this affect the condition of the lease at all?
Does anyone know if there is any activity at section 08 township 02N Range 05W. I have never been to the area so I am unsure if there is actually any activity in this area.
Newfield pooled 8-2N-5W in 2015. They had a horizontal well planned in 2015 for 8 & 17. Then they dismissed it in 2016, so for now they are not intending to drill. There are wells all around it, so maybe someday they will come back or another company will drill.
Karen…where are your minerals where they dismissed cause? That would be a disappointment I’m sure. Wish we had gotten one like that instead of them going to hold by production with only 700 ft. of perforation. Then we could have leased it again in May. Hopefully someone else will want to drill on yours. I’m hoping Newfield decides to drill on some more of our section sometime but it is what it is I guess.
John…talking about that Springer stuff in 9 and 4 did they just drill one or did they drill more that next time?
Jennifer, not that difficult, just takes engineer’s time to work them up and court time to decide. Sometimes there are protests.
Each well is given a certain amount that it can produce in order to not waste resources, rob from the well next door, etc. There is a set amount established by the depth and product which will be produced for each spacing unit. In the case of extra wells, they must apply for each well’s extra allowable to enlarge those numbers for the spacing unit. You don’t want ten wells sharing one well’s allowable.
Yes, I do remember that. I wish they had stopped before they got to 34 this time and gave us time to lease again. It might have been to their benefit as they might could have gotten the lease from us instead of Continental. Of course it might be just as good for them to have a HBP lease. I don’t know exactly how that works.
Friend of ours told my husband yesterday that they leased their minerals in the STACK for $3,000 an acre. He said that’s the most he’d ever gotten for a lease. I’d like to had some of that, wouldn’t you?
Good question for M Barnes. What is amazing is how they can control the drill bit and keep it in the productive shale band which is only a couple hundred feet thick. The well is 2 miles deep and then turns 90 degrees and bores 1 to 2 miles within a horizontal band of 200 feet while the band itself may be undulating near faults. It is no wonder that they could have trouble keeping it in the productive zone.
Does anyone know how difficult it is for an oil company to get separate allowables for a multi unit well? Curious because it’s been on the calendar at least twice. 201605917 and …918. I think they already have several separate allowables. I’m not even sure what it means.
Thank you M. You are such a wealth of knowledge and we are all so lucky to have you on this forum!
