Newfield’s 3rd Q report
CR started fracking Vanarkle 4.
Great news, John!
We’re two years into a three year lease with Continental (Bearcat Land) for interests in three adjoining sections south and west of the “hot spot”. We’re in sections 4 and 5 1N 6W, and section 33 2n 6W. The leases were offered in October 2012 and then signing was help up for a year to clear up some probate matters, and they run until October 2016. The leases initially offered to others in this area should be expired about now. I’m writing to try to learn if there has been any recent effort to renew leases in those sections. The Continental maps put this section within the west edge of the Woodford and the Springer plays, but other operators put them outside the area of interest. Any info or even speculation about the likely future of these or adjacent sections is appreciated.
Yes, just the formations pooled. Automatic upper and lower depth “clause”. You can lease other formations above and below if they are not included in the force pooling. This is one reason force poolings can be advantageous.

Continental filed a ton of leases in 32-2N-6W in late 2014. They filed a bunch of lease extensions in 34 in early 2015. Lots of leases in 4 & 5 in 2013 and 2014, but no extensions yet. I just got an offer nearby in 2n-6W from Bearcat, so looks like interest is still there, just moving slowly.
Just the formations in the pooling order.
M Barnes, when a mineral owner is force pooled, is it just the formations listed in the force pooling that would be HBP if a successful well is drilled?
If you have a depth clause in your lease, does it accomplish the same thing, or is there a difference?
Most depth clauses in a lease are only for 100’ below the deepest producing horizon. Almost impossible to get an upper depth clause on a lease. Force pooling gives you both in a way because they can only pool the reservoirs listed.
Just received our check for a lease renewal from Bearcat, Section 14-01 N6W.
General question:
Our family received notices on the bankruptcy for Geodyne Resources, Inc. as well as 8 companies with the Samson names. Does anyone know if we are supposed to respond to these and what this means if a Mineral owner receives these. Also, do we respond to them ? I will post this on the Grady site too. Thanks !
Linda, have been down around HWY 29 and Morrison Rd. ? Newfield spud a well Aug 8 3 miles north of HWY 29 on Morrison Rd. Just wondering whats happening.
Joseph…I don’t know but will ask around and see if we can find out. We were down that way the other day but don’t think we went that far west. When it dries up some after this rain stops I may venture down that way to see for myself. Will let you know if I do.
Joseph…do you know the name of the well?
