Reeves County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Cynthia we have mineral acres in Reeves Block 4 Section 82 not contiguous but not that far either. Leased in July of 11 renewal in Aug 14. About 2300 with BHP

Cynthia, our mineral rights are at Block 4 Section 64 about 4-5 sections diagonally up to the left from yours with a 3-year lease with BHP to expire this July 2014. I want to share a major appreciation with everyone on this site that what a blessing this site is made up of folks who are so willing to be helpful and share information! Especially for those of us who are not in the area. THANK YOU!! When I joined this site as a real novice 2-3 years ago there were only 134 members.

Wade thanks for the info will put them on rapid dial when lease expires

Wade – do I understand correctly that BHP exercised the 2-year option on your PSL 71 parcel… what Section might I ask? TIA – Later – Buzz

Lease by Keystone is A1411 Sec 20 C 17 if that helps any. Really do not expect an option but always hope.

Not sandman, landman. Oh well.

Buzz thanks for the reply mystery numbers ha

Oops A-5662 Section 82 Block 4 Reeves

Buzz in Township 8 Block 50 west side of Section 23 and 26 would you possibly know what the red letters 6612 denotes?? tkx.

Billy – that red circle (near the ‘6612’… depending on what resolution you’re using) is designated ‘plugged oil or gas well’ on the RRC map viewer… it has a very, very low API No. 389-10474 putting it in the pre-1975 category, I suspect. Later – Buzz

In two earlier comments, Ronnie McWilliams asked if Keystone is still active in Reeves County, Texas and is wondering if Keystone is going to exercise its two year option on his minerals in Section 20, Block C-17, A 1411. Keystone exercised its option to extend the lease on my wife’s minerals in Section 21, Block C-17, A-1410, which is the adjacent section to the East of Section 20. In the S/2 (west side) of Section 21, BHP drilled a now temporarily abandoned horizontal well to the north that uses Keystone leases and is currently being evaluated. A second well was drilled (from the same platform?) to the south into Section 1, Block 72. I don’t know the status of this well.

Fred Klein in an earlier comment tells us that his lease with BHP in Section 4, Block C-18, A-4061 was just extended. Section 4 in C-18 lays alongside the east line of Section 21 in Block C-17.

These 3 sections are lined up from west to east 20, 21 in Block C-17, and Section 4 in Block C-18. So, it is possible that Keystone might extend their lease on Ronnie’s Section 20. However, I am told that Keystone, largely because of the large lease bonuses in Reeves County, Texas is concentrating their efforts in Pecos County, around Ft. Stockton. In my earlier comment, I mis-typed Section 21 in C-17 as being Section 26. It appears that BHP is still interested in the area and in January Keystone kept my wife’s leases in Section 21, Block C-17 – maybe because of the drilled BHP well which is not in production. So, Ronnie there are grounds to be optimistic about Keystone extending your lease.

Thank you Kerry and Marian. We leased with Eagle Oil and Gas, but perhaps that was a mistake. We didn’t know to research who was leasing with who, or why that even mattered. This has truly been an education!

Donny, Linton here. Have A-5873, Block 51, Section 8 Township 7S T&P RR Survey, lease ending next month, that we discussed before, still no word from Browning Oil. Also have S/4 Block C-8, Section 26, PSL Survey, A-2112, A-3182, A-5457, A-1728, A-5456, A-3323, lease expires in April. If anyone is familiar with these areas or has any info, I’m all ears. Glad you’re having some good luck, Donny!

Can anyone tell me about Section 21 Block C-17 McAfee well. Is it finished or in production? I live in Mississippi and can’t get any info out here. Thanks

Donny I think I understand what you were saying and will keep my fingers crossed. Keystone has a permit to drill on the lease hope they can find a rig and move west, thanks for responding

Cynthia – we have mineral rights in Sections 45 and 32 of Block 4. Both come up for renewal/extension in 2014. We expected BHP to drill last year on Section 45, but it never happened. Don’t know why. It will be interesting to see if the leases get extended.

Ronnie McWilliams and John, According to some local Pecos fiends, the McAfee C17-21 well was completed in mid 2013. My wife received a well distribution on the Well from BHP in April 2013, but the well has never gone into production. In an e-mail reply from BHP in Dec 2013, I was told that the well was “temporarily abandoned” pending further evaluation. Thus it is apparently undecided whether or not BHP plans to produce the well but on the other hand, BHP extended the lease for two years in section adjoining sect 21 in C17 to the east (Section 4. Blk C18. So they must be still interested in the area. i. My wife’s lease on sect 21, C17 is with Keystone Petroleum and they extended the lease for two more years (2013-2015. Apparently, Petro-Hawk which drilled the well, now BHP Billiton, is using Keystone’s leased mineral acreage for the well.

Linton,
My wife has a mineral lease with KEW on S/4 Sec 26, Block C8 which expires on Feb 16, 2014, and has a two year extension option. No word from them about an extension.

Also she had a lese with Browing on SE/4, Sec 8, Block 51 from 2005 to 2011, but I have no record they extended it past 2011. I still find it odd that you remained leased to Browning past 2011 for the same part of sectionn 8. Maybe I should check my 2011 records to see if it was leased and I failed to record it. Let me know if get an offer annd mabe we can work together.

My father-in-law did have some of the acreage in Block C18 and C19, but apparently sold it in 1967.

Ronnie – a permit to drill 389-31536 was issued to TXO Production Corp. on 8-30-84. I believe you can assume it expired long ago. Later – Buzz
