Richard, I have been told the landman for the Pecos area for BHP (at least for our lease) is Clay (I think Carroll) phone # 713-585-4321. If not, BHP also has a customer service line to connect to. Mark provided you a link to try. Thanks for some hope Donny.
Thanks, Marian, I appreciate the info. We did contact the owner relations people last week via email. If I don’t hear from them soon, I’ll try to contact Clay. I’ll let everyone know what happens!
I just ran into this tidbit of information, a little stale: BHP (Petrohawk) is the most active rig operator in the Eagle Ford Shale as of April 2013, operating 28 rigs; EOG Resources is second with 25, followed by Marathon Oil 18 and Chesapeake 16. Later – Buzz
jw – The Eagle Ford Shale play is south of San Antonio. Later – Buzz
FYI, we have been told that BHP will exercise the 2 yr option in our lease on Sec 30.
Sounds like BHP is still active in the area JW
Anyone know if Keystone is still active in Reeves County. I have 3 year lease expiring soon, hoping they pick up option
for richard helmey - bhp just released our psl 56 sec 31. they also released some acreage we have in psl 59 but kept a parcel in psl 71. i really wonder who’s in charge over there or if they have some possible assignments in the works.
It would help if the survey, block, section, township (where applicable) and abstract number were included. Later – Buzz
Congratulations, Richard!
I found that I had to hire a sandman to search the record and send me copies. Reeves County is pretty impoverished and does not have much money to run its infrastructure. Now couple that with the oil boom going on and all the county archives packed with Landmen and other record researchers, the local staff of the County are just usually too overwhelmed to conduct business in practical and expected manner.
They literally have too much going on to even get to normal requests vie phone or mail.
My cousins had to travel to Pecos to actually get a physical paper receipt in person. Not because the county folks were lazy, it’s just if the task isn’t immediately in front of them, there is just too much demand for their time.
Decades ago my parents would correspond with the Reeves County Courthouse in a leisurely manner through the mail and replies would be received in a timely manner. But not today.
My cousins upon returning to the upper Midwest said “it’s like the Old West down there, it is in an Oil Boom, all sorts of folks over running the locals, with everyone carrying or packing a piece. You can smell the chase after the money down there in the ground.”
list them here first to see if anyone chimes in.
We have 10 acres in the SouthEast corner of Section 69 Block 4. If anyone is a neighbor, please contact me.
Billy – on the GLO map viewer I see the red '‘6612’ noted but have no idea what they mean. Later – Buzz
section 2
Ronnie - if keystone doesn’t renew it, then call cimarex. that is right in their fairway and they’ll pay 3k an acre for it.
My auto correct is winning. LANDMAN, not SANDMAN
LOL
by the way, it’s been that way for 5 years. i have seen pictures of landmen standing in line out and down the courthouse steps holding record books to be copied.
I would like to find out who owns mineral rights around ours, so that we can all make sure we are leasing to the same company and get something done. Am I going to have to go to Pecos and wait in line to get this information?
