Reeves County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

awesome info on that sale buzz. thanks!

could someone answer my question that I posted about, if BHP paid $3700.00 for a lease to the state, would they pay the land owner that amount? Or lower amount? Just asking… Thanks, Louise

Louise – go right to the source… I’m told they’re most helpful:

Thanks Buzz for the posting…

Linton, I am married to the former Betsy Preston. Her father and yours were law partners in Pecos. Betsy also has mineral acres in SE/4 sec 8, Blk 51 Tws 7, A-5843. Browning Oil Co. Had a straight 3 year primary lease on it from June 2005 to 2008, which they extended for 3 years to June 2011. The lease was not extended and presently remains unleased and there have not been any recent offers… However the most recent in 2013 offer to purchase the minerals was $5500 an acre. I Are your mineral acres in A-5873 leased? If you will send me an email, at donnylh@yahoo.com I would like to discuss my wife’s minerals in Reeves County since both of you have minerals that were divided in the law partnership. Maybe we could talk on the phone. If anyone can provide any information on leases in this area and going bonus rates, I would appreciate any input. I would like to get these minerals leased at a decent rate. Considering the surrounding activity in this block, I have not understood hey there have not been any lease interest in section 8. Donny

Linton, if your siblings’ minerals are still leased by Browning in sec 8, block 51 TPRR, I wonder what Browning can do with it, if they do not have your minerals and my wife never receive an offer to extend it when the 3 year primary lease expired in 2011. With all the surrounding activity you would expect some interest. Betsy, my wife is the oldest. Both Mary and Ann the 2 youngest live here in Bryan too.

Donny, I’m probably going to reach out to a couple of people I have done business with lately in the next couple of weeks or so to see if they are interested. I’ll let you know what I find out.

Good article… a bit dated… Hart Energy a quality publication.

Hi, Donny. Yes, my minerals in A-5873 were leased with Browning in 2011, but I refused their offer for the two-year extension. I think the other family members went with the extension, but don’t know for sure. I remember the Prestons well, although I can’t remember where Betsy was in the line-up! I loved playing in their living room with all those cabinets to explore! And I loved their kitchen with the island! The things we remember!

I came across this last night,

google ā€œRise of the Delaware Wolfcampā€ for a slide presentation of the developing Wolfcamp oil play in the Delaware Basin.

I just received an email stating that BHP Billiton is selling165,000 acres in reeves and Culbertson county. Has anyone heard what is going on.

Ralph-

Read backward in this thread. A number of posts and links on this issue.

morning all.

I’d like to know if anyone has a contact for a landman with Patriot Resources.

Talked to our BHP landman today. This was a quick response. He said BHP has a budget cycle of every 6 mo i.e. Jan-July and that no Reeves County Drilling is included in this budget cycle. He said there were some drills done in the area with results ā€œunder reviewā€ to determine next steps. He said they review leases about to expire 2 months prior to determine if they want to go for the 2 year extension. It is possible that the only way we will know if they are going for the extension is if we get a check to pay for the 2 yr extension in July. The only good news is that he indicated there were extensions happening in that area. He said I could call back the end of June to get an update. Our lease Block 4 Section 64.

Personally…I think BHP Needs to head on back to Kangaroo Country!! Worst Oil Company EVER!!

Marian, I just sent you a friend request. We have a lease expiring on Feb 7th with BHP that has a 2 yr extension. We haven’t heard anything from them yet. Can you recommend someone to contact to determine the status?

Richard: I believe you can get status information on your lease by e-mailing petroleumownerrelationsrequest@bhpbilliton.com

Someone at that department has provided similar info to me.

Thanks, Mark. The property does not appear to be in the area they intend to divest so hopefully they want to hold on to the leases in the other areas. We are in Sec 30, Blk 56 PSL.

There seems to be lots of activity in that area. If BHP isn’t interested, possibly someone else is!

Marion, below mentions that BHP drilled some wells in the area that were ā€œunder reviewā€. My wife got a well distribution on a BHP well in the S/2 of sec 21, Blk C-17, a-1410 in April 2013, but the well has not gone into production. I was told that they have ā€œtemporarily abandonedā€ the well pending further evaluation. Fred Klein, in the Reeves Cnty Lease forum tells us that his lease with BHP in sec 4, Blk C-18, A-4061 was just extended. Since this section 4 lays alongside sec 26 in Blk C-17, it appears that BHP is still interested in that immediate area and there is hope for the well if they exercised their 2year extension option in the adjacent section to the east. Will see.
