Reeves County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Bill – the well took over 73 days to drill… longer than normal for a horizontal in the area, but not totally unexpected. Good luck. Later – Buzz

Buzz - hopefully drilling was about 16 miles southeast of pecos. Permit for Blk50, T-7s, section 38 awhile ago.

Buzz, thanks for the reply…

this will be our 4th well so I’m familiar with the process. But this is our first horizontal and it seems to be taking longer than the vertical ones.

Our ‘Reeves County’ expression is…‘things take a little longer in oil patch’

George – I was in Reeves a couple of days the last week of Jun. Much infrastructure including new pipelines being laid across northern and southeastern Reeves County. The problem is underground pipelines in that 2,500 square mile county don’t exactly stick out like a sore thumb. Something of note, they are building a railcar loading facility just south of Pecos for hauling crude oil.

Still, infrastructure is still badly needed in Reeves. Later – Buzz

Buzz do you know if Dukier State is an energy resources company in the Netherlands i googled patriot resources seems they are drilling co. in Midland, googled Dukier State all in foriegn language??

All, I’m sorry to admit but I am very new to this and would appreciate any insight. As a recent heir, I have interests in Sect. 40, Blk 51, Township 7 south, T&P Ry, Sect. 40, Blk 51, Township 7 P.S.L., Sect. 18, Blk 49, Township 8, T&P Ry & I believe I have interest in Sect. 28, Blk 50, Township 8, T&P Ry and Sect. 44, Blk 50, Township 7, T&P Ry. I believe these to be leased but I’m curious if there is any activity close to these areas. I think some are leased to Delaware Basin and Clayton Williams. Any advice and/or help would be greatly appreciated. In addition, I would like to know who I could contact to hire to insure ownership has been conveyed correctly. Thanks.

E A go to G I S web mapping click on accept when the map comes up click on energy resources and the wells and permitted wells will show up in red, after you enlarge the pic. enough

Thank you both Billy & Buzz. I plan to visit these sections soon so I hope the map will help me locate them. I’m really a fish out of water on this stuff.

oh you will have to put your cursor on reeves county

E. A. – IMO, your best bet is to contact the Texas General Land Office:

http://www.glo.texas.gov/

RELINQUISHMENT ACT LAND:

  • T&P BLK 50, TWP 7, SEC 44, - 10 tracts in section, 17.8 mi SSE of Pecos

  • T&P BLK 51, TWP 7, SEC 40, Abstract # 2613, 16.0 mi S of Pecos (slightly E)

  • T&P BLK 49, TWP 8, SEC 18, 3 tracts in section, 22.9 mi SE of Pecos

FREE ROYALTY LAND:

  • T&P BLK 50, TWP 8, SEC 28, 3 tracts in section, 22.7 mi SE of Pecos

COULD NOT LOCATE FROM DESCRIPTION:

  • PSL BLK 51, TWP 7, SEC 40

Clayton Williams is and E&P company active in these areas.

Delaware Basin refers to the geologic basin that includes Reeves County. It is a sub-basin within the much larger Permian Basin.

Like everything else, the more complete and accurate the information you give them, the easier it is for them to help. Later – Buzz

Again, thank you both. Great help! I believe Patriot Resources has leased Blk 51, TWP 7, Sect. 40 and Clayton Williams has leased Blk 49, TWP 8, Sect. 18. Do either of you know someone I could contact to research all of this? I know it will likely be expensive. Thx!

E.A. section 28 in twnship 8 blk. 50 shows to have one well in the north east quarter and adjoining sec. 33 0n the south has two locations spotted i think this section is about 20 miles south of pecos and about four or five miles west of the marathion hwy.

FYI, Shell’s rig on Sect.26 Blk 54, TWP 4, about 12 miles NW of Pecos has just moved off location. Hopefully a good completion to follow…

Ann, I don’t know the number they are using, but I understand that they are drilling up to eight parallel wells per section now.

Is there anyone on this site who owns minerals in Sect. 26, Blk. 54, TWP 4? The Shell rig has moved off and for those of us with acreage in the vicinity (10-15 miles NW of Pecos) it would be great getting any feedback of results.

COG has just had a permit approved for a horizontal in Blk C-7, Section (Survey) 24, in the Toyah Lake bed. The bottom hole location for this well is 504.5 feet from my Sec. 26 minerals that are leased by Clayton Williams. When wells in that area are fracked, how far from the wellbore does the fracture usually extend?

Ann i have intrest in one in Wise county, and the distance is about the same from another property where the paralell ends, so mabye the state has a minimal distance that must be maintained from another property., but i dont know how far the fracks extend, probably depends on the formation
