Valentina – Arabella has received 10 horizontal drilling permits in Reeves since Sep-12, all SW, S or SE of Pecos. Currently they are drilling a second lateral on the first well they permitted and drilled in Reeves, the S M PREWITT #1H, PSL BLK C8 SEC 24, A-4468, 6.1 miles SW of Pecos, spud 7-21-13. Originally this well was spud 9-25-12 and appeared on drilling reports thru w/e 11-2-12. I cannot explain why a rig moved back over this well except to state that the amended permit application noted “amending to add second lateral”.
In addition, they have completed drilling 3 additional wells:
LOCKER STATE #1H, A-5787, 23.6 miles S of Pecos, spud 11-9-12
GRAHAM #1H, A-2139, 16.9 miles S of Pecos, spud 2-17-13
WOODS #1H, A-2786, 16.3 miles SE of Pecos, spud 5-1-13
You T&P BLK 50 well is in Pecos County, I believe.
I know of no way you can track a wells progress on the RRC site between when the permit is issued and the well is completed and on production. Later – Buzz
CWI Conference call was very informative. Bottom line, I’m leased - not hbp like a lot of their properties - and they now have their money to drill and leases like mine will be priority before they expire. Thanks again, Buzz, for the link.
EOG has received 20 north-central Reeves permits in 2013; 11 in PSL BLK 56; 8 in PSL BLK 57 and 1 in T&P BLK 55 TWP 4S, SEC 4. 14 wells are horizontal and 6 vertical.
The ‘original’ vertical well in the play was the HARRISON STATE 56-23 #1, completed 8-22-10. Later – Buzz
DCole – it seems Oxy fairly recently acquired leases from J. Cleo Thompson, generally S and SE of Pecos city. They were active before then around Pecos, but picked up the drilling pace. Currently they have 3 vertical rigs running 12-16 miles S and SE of Pecos. Earlier in the year, they had as many as 4 rigs running, some close-in to Pecos city. Later – Buzz
William – WOODS #1H last appeared on the drilling report w/e 7-12-13 after 72 days ‘drilling ahead’. The next phase is final completion the well, i.e., hydraulic fracturing, wellhead/pumpjack, surface facilities, etc. Depending on the aboveground infrastructure required, it may be months before you see any production data. All you can do is keep surveying the RRC production site and become more patient. Later – Buzz
Re. Oxy, they took over op’s on our Sect.258 (9 miles south of Pecos) in April. I’m told they will drill wells 3 and 4 in the first quarter of next year. What has me more interested is whethr or not tey will start drilling more horizontal wells as that seems to be the future.
DCole - the one 16 miles SE of Pecos… w/e 8-2-13 Oxy was drilling the CHEVRON MINERALS 37 #3, in T&P BLK 51, TWP 7S, SEC 37, A-749. The other two wells were 12 miles S and 12 miles SE of Pecos. Later – Buzz
I noticed in a note dated Aug 3 that you posted, you mentioned 3 Arabella wells. One of those wells, A-2786 #1H, belongs to my extended family (I am also an heir). I cannot find any ‘Pending’ production data which seems unusual considering that the well was ‘spud’ around May 1. Any comments?
