Reeves County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

My family made a deal in early 2012 to sell water for 60cents/barrel. We have a relative who still lives in Texas and visits our land regularly and is plugged into the local community, so I expect he wouldn’t have let us make a deal that was bad, so I would think 60cents/barrel is at least a decent deal. But who knows, maybe rates are going up.

Last year a poster (William R Woods) said he was trying to negotiate for 75cents/barrel, but I don’t know what ever happened there. William, if you see this, care to let us know what you ended up selling your water for? I’d be curious to know in case another company asks to buy my family’s water.

maybe they found some of that ‘5 cent’ water…

Thx, Paul. So basically arond 470 bopd and 480 mcfd. No wonder PetroHawk is drilling aggressively.

The relative in charge of dealing with the oil companies tells me that 60cents/barrel is supposed to be a good deal. Apparently some nearby owners are selling water for much, much less (something like 5cents/barrel) because they don’t know any better.

At 60cents/barrel we’ve made a pretty penny over the last year.

Regarding water prices…we tried but couldn’t get 75 cents. in the end we agreed to them paying for the well and the water price only for them would be much lower…but before the deal went thru they decided they would have to drill too deep to find water and it would be cheaper for them to haul it in…so that’s how it ended up…No deal…

water wells,

anyone know the going rates for water wells are in Reeves?

Petrohawk posted May production overnight to RRC. If you have have land 7-9 miles NW of Orla, you should be excited. Production on two wells ranged an average of 14,500 bbls oil and 150,000 mcf of gas. Impressive numbers. Will be interested to see the declination rate over the next few months on these wells. Pecos area wells of Petrohawk continue to produce but at much lower numbers than Orla.

William – I gassed-up in Orla the last week of Jun. I didn’t have time to follow the route you took but can attest to your comments… adding Loving County. Later – Buzz

JW – Petrohawk is now running 4 rigs in northern Reeves County: 5 mi NW of Orla, 7 mi NW of Orla, 2.2 mi NE of Orla (all horizontal) and 4.1 mi SE of Orla (vertical). They applied for a horizontal permit 3.0 mi NW of Orla.

They recently completed drilling 16.0 mi SW of Orla and have received a permit 16.4 mi SW of Orla (both vertical).

Petrohawk has grown suddenly quite elsewhere in the county… making it apparent their near-term program has moved to northern Reeves.

Of particular interest is EOG Resources’s recently announced horizontal program a little south of you, i.e., they’re now drilling 16 mi S of Orla on their third Harrison Ranch well (scroll back to my May 28 post).

Describe your location more particularly if you don’t mind… the Abstract Number would be particularly handy. TIA – Later – Buzz

I signed with PetroHawk for my land 11.75 mile SSW of Orla. Buzz or anyone else can you tell me if they are close to my area? Thanks for all the help!

JW I am from Pecos and recently visited Reeves County and drove the entire county to get a handle on what was going on. I drove SSW out of Orla to Guadalupe National Park, I would say they are definitely close to your property!~! It is really quite amazing how much drilling activity there is in nearly all of Reeves County,Ward County and Eastern Culberson county!~! Hope that Helps

Interesting to check the RRC again in relationship to this conversation. I see where Orla is in relationship to West Pecos where our rights are. I did see that a gas well is now on Block 4 sec A411 next to us sec a1390 that is new along with another permitted well. Yet Petrohawk is not indicating to us that there are any plans soon to begin action. How long is a permit “open” for?

Billy – the red circle is a location that has not yet been drilled. The ‘MF’ I’m told is an abbreviation for ‘Master File’ an internal document of the GLO. If a ‘MF’ file exists on a property, it seems there has been O&G activity currently or in the past. Later – Buzz

Buzz could you tell me what this means on the gis map energy resources, in township 8 blk.50 sec.14 printed over the map, mf110581 mfmf110589 and one red circle in the section, i have intrest in the section west of this one sec.15, info would be appreciated, tks bill simpson.

Buzz tks for the info

Yeah Buzz I did forget to mention the least populated county in the United States, my bad, they definitely have more wells being drilled than their Population of 313!~!Loving County, Texas

Hey Buzz,

I’m happy you have not dropped off the site. Assume you

had a great vacation. I did. I’ve got lots of pressure to farm

out in the SW/4 Blk 56 Sec 11 TPRR A-581. To total depth of

6,000 ft. Offered 5% ORRI, that’s it. 50% interest in 80 acres.

Long time lease HBP from my grandfather.

The production holding the section, or half section, is immediately

west. Any thoughts?

gwen

sorry misprint the last numbers only has one mf

Buzz My abstract # is 3036-3035 Thank You!

Lori – that’s great to hear! Any info on gas line size… where it’s coming from and going to? That’s a joint venture well with Energen, the COTTONMOUTH 58-47 #1. Thanks for keeping us informed. – Later – Buzz
