Only thing I know to tell you is if you know the name of the drilling contractor, call that company and possibly they will answer your question. Possibly one of the Reeves County Group members knows who Three Rivers is using to drill their wells. Our friend Wade Caldwell may have an answer to your question.

The State of Texas never restricts or sets the maximum price that you can negotiate for either your fee minerals or for mineral classified tracts. The GLO has now set a policy of only accepting 3-year leases, without an option to extend. You may have misunderstood the landman. Apache has slowly increased its bonus rates and I understand it is currently offering $1,500 and the State is willing to accept that bonus.
Has anyone here ever heard of deals between the State of Texas and oil companies that limited the amount per mineral acre the company could offer mineral owners? Iâve been given an offer from an Apache broker that is supposedly at the top of their range due to this type of deal with the State. However, no one that Iâve talked to has ever heard of such a deal. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
L.C. â a quick review of RigData Drilling Reports, first week of the month beginning July 2016:
Drilling for Three Rivers Operating Company III, LLC (all wells 15-20 miles SW of Orla; no reports in Loving)
NOMAC DRLG LLC Rig #64 working in Culberson in Aug-Sep; Reeves County, Texas in Oct; back to Culberson in Nov; no Three Rivers activity in Dec or Jan (so far).
TRINIDAD DRLG Rig #445 working in Culberson County in Oct only.

JAmstater â sorry, youâre dealing in a âtop secretâ business as far as foreseeing the future goes. Later â Buzz
Just got a bulletin that Noble Energy will be buying Clayton Williams. Weâre leased to CW. Is Noble going to be good or bad for us? Weâve been waiting for CW to drill us for four-plus years, though the repeated bonus payments were very nice, thank you! But drilling would be niceâŚ
Something else just occurred to me. CW has extensive pipelines, which I havenât heard anything about. Are they held separate from the interests being sold? CW had been building pipelines in a direct line to our property, but stopped less than a mile away from us when the bust hit. Does anyone know what is happening to CWâs pipelines? Does pipeline availability figure into a companyâs decision to keep or sell an interest?
Thank, Buzz! I had no idea that pipelines equaled âmidstream assets.â But now that I think about it, yes, it is obvious. So Noble will have the pipelines. And we arenât far from the pipelines.
Thanks Buzz, Is there a way to find out more information about Energenâs timeline? As far as when they would begin production?
JAmstater â youâre quite a ways from Orla⌠25.6 miles to the SE in fact. However, it looks like interest in your area has rekindled⌠in particular, Energen is in the midst of an 8-10 well development drilling program on Sections 18 & 21 involving ~9,500â laterals. Later â Buzz
Chris â Apache has been active recently, near and a little bit west of you. Later â Buzz
The broker is trying to keep the price down. Theyâve tried to use that tactic on me as well. Call the bluff. In these cases the surface owner is the one that negotiates anyway and the State takes it.
Orla sounds familiar to me. I was wondering if you could help me look up activity for abstract 4039 Section 18 Block C-19 PSL Survey. I donât think they have drilled yet to my knowledge. Anyone heard anything about activity in this area?

Thanks, Liz. Noble buying CWEI should help jump start those leased to CWEI as it has been in kind of a holding pattern for almost a year while it was up for sale. It will also lessen competition for leases in areas where they overlap. Donât be surprised to see Noble sell or let some of the acreage go they bought. Finally, Noble has a pretty good inventory of drilled but uncompleted wells they have to work through. Another reason Noble may sell some of this acreage to finance drilling. As always, just a guess.
Thanks for the info, Wade. I hadnât thought about Noble possibly selling, but it makes sense. Our property is not in the hottest area, though weâre not completely out in the boonies and there are some decent wells around us. Being sold off doesnât necessarily sound great - though maybe whoever would buy would be more motivated to drill.
Liz â it appears from the news release that pipelines are included:
âIn addition to the benefits driven by larger scale, the midstream assets and planned buildout provide significant synergies and substantial dropdown potential in association with our ownership in Noble Midstream Partners.â Later â Buzz
The GLO has said they would approve leases at $1500 in the Alpine High area with Apache. The GLO wants more than that in other areas.
Noble/Rosetta and CWEI had quite a few carved up tracts in Block 13, so this should help Noble be able to put together drillable tracts easier.
