Reeves County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

there is also 5 more areas with the name Shenandoah Petroleum, we are gathering more information about these. Randolph b, g, j, at-a, and r. I also belong to Mineralholders.com. on this website it shows that these have all dropped off the map in production. I don’t know if this means anything, maybe it takes time to get data updated or their leases are up? I do have all the data numbers for leases. they also have been offered from several companies to purchase these , best offer $6000/mineral acre. just over 5 acres.

Mike – I believe your area is ~3-4 miles SSW of Orla in northern Reeves… I assume the properties are under lease since that is currently a very active area being drilled by several companies. Later – Buzz

thanks Buzz, we have no information about these leases. how can we find out what the terms are? it looks like these leases were originated in 1993. also some quit paying out. what should we do?

is your father receiving royalties, from one or more companies. Is he receiving property tax statements for specific wells? Does he have the division orders which he signed to receive royalties? Does he have copies of leases or deeds? If not, then you should get those from Reeves County deed records. If your father is getting royalties, you can contact land department at operator and ask for recording info (volume and page) in deed records to order copies from the county. I cannot stress enough the importance of saving all paperwork with regard to minerals. Never sign a document without keeping a copy for your files.

my name is mike petersen,i live in Minnesota so it is not easy to get down there just because we have questions. so we were wondering just like a lot of others if there was any new permits or other activity near this area. my dad has 6 of these and all with the same block and sections.

Mike – taking a more detailed look at SEC 46… ‘currently’ was the wrong term. That section has had oil and gas production for quite some time which sometimes (most times) can be a detriment to new prospecting. More correctly stated: ‘The area in the vicinity of SEC 46 is very active.’ Sorry 'bout that. Later – Buzz

A question about retained acreage and field rules. According to field rules a company can drill a horizontal well with a 1500’ ft lateral and hold 320 acres. In reality, has a well with that short of a lateral ever been drilled just to hold acreage?

Has anyone heard and rumors or facts about the Apache- King Hidalgo wells over in the SW corner of Pecos County? They are targeting the Barnett/Woodford as part of their Alpine High play.

Here is the link for the latest investor presentation by Apache. Well results are on slide 24. Another presentation is being released tomorrow at the Goldman Sachs conference. http://files.shareholder.com/downloads/APA/3585067285x0x918016/953F

Reeves Rancher – no well results… Apache does have 5 King Hidalgo wells permitted and has been drilling them for quite some time. Mapwise, they are indicated to be in the Alpine High play. They are located about 20 miles SE of Balmorhea. Later – Buzz
