My Grandmother’s 40 acre homestead was inalienable in Marshall County, since she had my Dad who was a minor child at the time of her death. It was original allotment land and tax exempt. Despite this, the land was wrongly transferred outside of my Dad’s name, including the mineral interests which are still owned by the relatives of one of the original wrong doers. This story is all to frequent in Oklahoma and a sad legacy of the state.
