I had read gas would go 640 acre, but oil 320 acre? As for the 20,000 figures, I am attempting to locate where I read that, I sent a copy to my brother, but it is some oilexec utive name of Grubb, who guestimates with the new drilling tech, they expect to pump between 80 and 100 bar per MINUTE, I was also told several places that the horiz techniques changes EVERYTHING, especially in Logan and the area, that is why you see so much activity everywhere, and the new Cushing leg of the Keystone Pipeline started in March, is reportedly nearly finished to Port Aruther, and when that pipe opens, it will be up to North Central Oklahoma fill it immediately. It is boomtime similar to the Silocon Vally Computer boom because of the new technology. There are already horizs being drilled in N Okla on experiemental basis to 5 miles deep and even over. The technology is changing everything, I would NEVER NEVER sell my minerals at any price today no more than I would have sold my Microsoft stock 35 years ago. Do the math and use the old imagination.
Mississippi Limestone Emerging As Top-Flight Horizontal Liquids Pla…
This published well over a year ago, and tells some about 10,000 plus producing wells, I have read a couple of different places a good horiz well can pump 20,000 bpd and tyhe best wqells can go 50.000 bpd and over, and the technology is yet to come for even better results. It all makes sence. 40 years ago everyone in the industry woulld have laughed at over 5-600, but that is vertical and horiz was unthought of even. All of those hundreds of rigs are not being parked out there just for cheap parking, and the Cushing - Port Arthur extension has to be filled up by Northern Okla at Cushing on opening day. The oil companies know exactly what they are doing and where we are going with it.
I just found this quote from BLOOMBERG BUSINESS WEEK,
“These are 24/7 days for oil production in the U.S. North Dakota now produces more oil than Alaska—and more than Ecuador, too. Geologists estimate that Oklahoma still has 80 percent of its reserves in the ground. The majority of this oil is of the highest quality: light, sweet crude that’s low in sulphur, lighter than water, and cheaper to refine into gasoline than the heavier sour (high in sulphur) crude from Venezuela and the Canadian tar sands. Goldman Sachs (GS) predicts that by 2017 the U.S. will be the world’s biggest oil producer.” In which a Tulsa Tugboat operator gets football sized tanks down the Arkansas-Mississippi to the New Orleans ports. This Mississippi is drying up to transportation at an alarming rate, I have not seen the Arkansas in a few years, but it is probably as well as the Colorado snows have not produced much help. The Cushing extension of the Keystone is probably the most single most important thing to Okla Oil today. And Obama approved that part March 22 in a personal visit to Cushing. They immediately hired over 8,000 workers on in who have been working night and day 7/24.
Ronald Von Wilson,
I’m not saying a well couldn’t come in at 20,000 per day, but I don’t know of one in Logan Co. Some of the wells in Wood Co are coming in at 2800 BBD and everyone is very happy and so is the bank accounts.
As far as the 17 Halliburton Trucks, I bet they are fracking the well and large motors are used to pump water and chemical down the hole, sometimes other types of material can be used. And most, but not all H well pads are at least 5 acres. In the city, we have drilled some on as small as 2 or 2 1/2 A, but it was hard to lay the pipe out. Lots of oil companies are purchasing land near the HI way for storage yards.
As far as the Helicopter’s go, my guess would be someone from Corp office is coming to the well. My husband was an Engineer for Halliburton in Dallas and then The Woodlands and when they needed to get to a well site in a hurry, they usually flew, Sometimes they took the company jet and would be meet at a local airport with a Helicopter to take them to the well site. I’m sure glad that Logan Co has lots of drilling going on. To bad it doesn’t rain and get some water in the ponds. I have a 26 ft deep pond that is almost dry. It is a good time to get all the ponds clean out though.
Ronald, lets hope you get a real good well in the near future.
I see that makes total sense and it did look like five acres or so and I’ll bet that is equipment to Frack the well or wells in the area halliburton had on those trucks.
Ronald,
I think that Kabe Expl. is right on target. These well will probably bring in over 400,000 BB in their lifetime. Let say, they last 10 years, so the well coming in at 300 BBD, that is 109,500 for 1st year, the next 2 years it goes down to 200 BBD that is 73,000 per year. The last 7 years it would only be 56 BBD. I think the information you are reading Is for the life of the well, but who knows for sure. Yet some of the wells in Woods Co are making about 2800 BBD which would be 1,022,000 per year. But, usually they don’t stand up very long at this rate. Time will tell on these H-well. They cost about 4 to 5 time more to drill, so they will need to come in big.
Now, don’t spent all your money in one place.
I think if it rains, we could see a lot more drilling in Logan Co.
The oil is down there. Everybody should know that by now. Here is some recent news I found this morning about my home County, Cowley County KS, this would have been called nonsense not too many years ago. I quote, and this is just a beginning for this entire area.l…
Kabe Exploration names Fortune Oil & Gas as operator for Mississippian Lime oil development
Kabe Exploration Inc. announced Jan. 16 that Fortune Oil & Gas Ltd. will be the operator in a proposed development of up to 50 horizontal oil wells in the Mississippian Lime play in Cowley County, Kansas.
Mississippian Lime horizontally drilled wells show the potential for 300,000–400,000 barrels of oil equivalent (Boe) per well at relatively shallow drilling depths of approximately 4,000 feet, with a high oil quality of 35–38 °API gravity."
Ronald,
You need to add TEXAS to that list and several more states, like the Dakota, Colorado, etc. This isn’t the first oil bloom in Logan Co and probably won’t be the last. If you go back several years, you will find Three sands north of Perry was really something. Wood derrick feet inside each other as they didn’t know how to produce more than one sand at a time, so they drilled 3 wells in almost the same spot, look at picture of this. They let the salt water run on the land and it was ruined it for many years. Thanks to OERB the land was treated and grass is growing again. Then look at Garber field just to name a few. Late 1950 to 1960, they drilled everything up, my parents has several wells going down at the same time. Then again the late 1970 till the crash in the 1980. It’s a cycle, so this isn’t anything new. This may be the first time you have seen it, but I’m sure lots of us have seen it come and go. About every 20 years they come up with new technology that make it possible to get more oil/gas.
One of the saddest things I have seen is that most of the land owners today don’t own the minerals. Lots are owned by investor and big oil companies CEO, etc. So, the average farmer isn’t going to get rich. Also, today we have a better ways of knowing where the oil pools are, so we don’t drill as many dry holes. In the older days, it was hit and miss, today it’s almost a sure thing, but we still do hit a few dry ones.
In todays world, an investor is pretty sure they will get some of their money back if not all. Now we are hoping to make a profit to drill more wells. It’s like going to the tables in Vegas after awhile. Also, in todays world, their are several investors in each well, in the old days, only a few and some went broke. Time do move on and so does technology. We wouldn’t be able to drill these H well if it wasn’t for the computers and new design drilling bits. It’s a big world out there.
Yep, it is getting very interesting, Virginia, I am also planning on writing a book about all of this, so I am going to win one way or 'tuther. Anyway, I saw today that in Alfalfa County a new well is doing over 2,000, and they expect that to be the trend. My wife retires from the US Army in 4 months, so I ain’t in poverty yet. LOL
As an interesting footnote revealing that my fingers type faster than my brain calculates, lol, I was astonished to see that I had referred to you as “Virginia Clemm,” and that ain’t bad, if you realize that she was married to Edgar Alan Poe, one of my personal Poetry Mentors, the other being Maya Angelou, who took me under her wing a few years ago. There is definitely a book about oil and fracking in my head, maybe even a Poe like novel about it. I am already working on them. This oil stuff is so fascinating, and I still believe we are currently only at the very tippiest tip of the Proverbial Iceberg. Goldman Sacs has said publicly that the USA will be the largest producer of oil in the entire WORLD by 2014. That is just 11 months away, and I believe N Okla and S Kansas is the key to it.

I think if we all gave Ronald a story of how we have been treated by oil companies we would have to have 50 volume set. My latest is some oil company said they purchases my minerals and refused to release it. So after months of work, my attorney finally got them to figure out they didn’t own it.
Ronald,
Why would the pipeline went to go to west TX?
They already have problems getting all the oil to S. TX. We need more pipeline everywhere, but not on my property. You know the old saying, not in my backyard. I’m not sure if LA is even going to be able to hook up to the Cushing to LA refinery line. First, we need American companies building the refineries in the USA, not all on the coast line.
I’m tired of our government giving all our money to foreign companies to built things in our country to make more profit off us.
Look what Chesapeake did to gas wells in Woodward. They bought their people in to work the field, make it into Compress gas and ship it out.
I still don’t understand why the closed the refineries in Ponca City and Enid years ago. We need more refineries and less trucking. Probably the EPA/government had something to do with the closing. Not into that business.
Mr. Wilson, I’d help you do my story and you could keep the royalties, a story of greed, stupidity, deception, fraud and probable corruption with a lovely paper trail of recorded and court documents. I probably have enough for a sequel book also.
Yep. The key to Oklas immediate future is the Cushing terminal of the Keystone Cushing extension. The pipe has been increased from 30 inches diameter to 3 feet diameter, that is a little over 1 and 1/2 barrels diameter, for every 4 feet in lenght. Calculate 960 miles of pipe at that rate, and use our imagination to fill in the details. Though there are 4 pumping stations in Texas, Cushing is the only actual terminal. I am confused as to why the Texas portion is going directly straight to Port Arthur via East of DFW, and not through the oil rich fields of West Texas? We had another Mississippi barge spill 2 days ago, Old Man River is still drying up and it will not be long before hardly any oil will be able to ship via river barge, at that rate. And, LOL we all know about the Oil Companies, from Land Men on up, are not going to tell us anything they do not want us to know. RW K you are right, the greed and corruption is part of it and not about to go away any time soon. But there are things we CAN do that might help in some ways. Being silent, coy, or shy are NOT in my own vocabulary.
I have a farm in 2/19/3 and have been approached about leasing for oil and gas.
I would like to know of any companies leasing in the area and what land has been leasing for.
Portia Jane,
Some of the companies that have leases in the area are:
Crown, Continental & Devon to name a few.
I just had a lease expired close to you and got an offer of $500 with 3/16, no extension, but I don’t think that is enough. I think it’s section 6-19N-2W, Logan Co that has a good well, so that should make the leases worth more. About 1 or so from you.
Maybe someone on here can tell us what they are going for.
Thanks for the info. I was offered 375.00. The company is Petroven.
I tried to look them up but didn’t find any information and I’ve never heard of them. The lease that expired was with continental.
Portia Jane,
I think that Continental just dropped the ball on a bunch of leases in the area. The only thing I know about Petroven, Inc. is they do leasing and are out of Plano, TX. I don’t know if they drill their own wells or only trying to make a profit by leasing and selling the lease. I would call Crown and see if they are interested. I think they have the lease just east of you. Wish I could think of the company name that was going to put down a test well in the NW 4, 30-21N-2W. They were suppose to test about 20 sands/shale, etc. I haven’t been to the farm, so don’t know if that well has been drilled. Do you live in the area? Maybe you know if it’s drilled, then check the name plate at the cattle guard and see what company has it.
I called Devon, Continental and Osage who were the major players. They were not leasing anymore. Who are the Major companies your saying is leasing (not extending leases) in Northern Logan?
