Logan County, OK - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Dylan, You might want to private email her to see because, I can’t remember either. Good Luck!

Dylan,

I’m sorry to mislead you, when I was talking about Red Fork it was in Noble County, OK. I don’t think they are doing any drilling in Logan at this time. But, there are several good companies that are drilling and leasing in Logan.

Once again, just because you lease to a company doesn’t mean they will be the company you end up with. Sometimes leases are traded, sold and just flipped. So, just make sure your lease are wrote for your interest and not just the oil company. Good Luck.

NEWS just in … Rumor of Devon and Slawson moving in “5 Rigs” by year’s end!

Without a doubt Logan is going to be One Steaming Hot Spot!!!

… mere bonuses of only $200 to $300 are of the past!! Don’t lease your minerals for “chicken feed”!

Dylan,

Red Fork Energy has been drilling some good wells in Noble County, but I think the last one was dry which is just NE of Perry.

In Logan County, one of the bigger companies are Devon and they have been backing some of the other companies. Some of the wells in Logan County are coming in good, but I have been told they aren’t staying that way. Others are coming in at about 40 BBD. I just got back from OK and didn’t see that much drilling going on, but it’s getting hot weather and they usually drill in cooler weather, so if oil goes back up, I think the fall will be busy.

Hi first time poster on this blog, must say some good discussion going on. I just wanted to ask if anyone had been contacted by Red Fork or Sundance about leasing in Logan County??

Dylan

Sundance is traded on the Australian stock exchange with an office in Denver and branch in OKC. I do production work for them and they are good people. You can check their website out. I believe the Blue Dolphin that is active in Logan is from Edmond OK. Worked for them also. 500 per should be easy to get in this area of discussion but if you’re not in a pinch for money would hold out for more, Kaye and myself have both proved to the group higher prices are paid.

Lee

Dylan, You might want to try to do a search on both Red Fork and Sundance in the search box at the top of the page to see what comes up. Good Luck!

Kaye, thanks for that, but I’ve already tried that. I remember seeing Virginia Pflum saying that she had just started working with Red Fork and they were doing O.K. The reason this grabbed my attention is because I own shares in Red Fork and to date they haven’t announced leasing in Logan County, I highly rate Logan County and would love to see them leasing there. The liquids yields on the east side of the play could make these counties better than Alfalfa and Woods. Not sure if this person was talking about dealings with Red Fork in other counties or specifically Logan?

Sundance currently have ~18,000 net acres in Logan County.

Cheers.

Hi guys, thanks for all the replies. Just to get things straight, I’m not a mineral owner in Oklahoma I’m actually from Australia, but I own shares in Red Fork Energy and Sundance Energy Australia. Both are big land holders in the Mississippi Lime play. I also hold shares that drill in the Eagle Ford Shale and Bakken Shale, you might have heard of those plays. I am just trying to get a feel for how things are out there on the ground and if Red Fork was leasing in Logan.

Cheers.

Do you know which Mississippi Lime wells came in at 40 bbls/day or are you referring to Woodford or Cleveland sand horizontals?

Virginia

To date flow rates from Tahara in Pawnee County are the only official numbers from the company which did an IP of 283 boepd. The OCC has Abunda located in Pawnee which is next to Tahara flowing at 30 boepd, but the company has recently stated that the well is still unloading, with no flow rate announced from them.

Red Fork is currently drilling a number of wells in Noble County with 1 well currently unloading to sales - Blair 1-24H

“Mud mud logs and samples again confirmed extensive shows of oil and gas across the full length of the lateral.”

Two wells drilled, cased, awaiting stimulation

McMurtry #1-21H

“Approximately 4,437 feet of lateral was successfully drilled in the Mississippi Lime formation, with mud logs and samples confirming extensive shows of oil and gas across the length of the lateral. Significantly, oil was observed on the pits during drilling and connection gas readings in excess of 3,500 units (ppm) were also recorded.”

McMurtry #1-22H

“Importantly, mud logs and analysis of samples highlighted a very good show of oil in the upper part of the Mississippi Lime formation as the well bore cut this section when making the turn for the lateral.”

Just spudded or drilling -

  • Bunch #1-19H

  • Tasman #1-15H

The well drilled was Blair and they say that it extensive shows across the full lateral length. Do you know what the well name is??

Cheers

Not sure where this information should be put. But, several people on this forum have stated they own mineral in Texas, but live out of state. I just want to let people know of a tax law that Texas has that some of the other states don’t have.

Mineral Taxation

Both the operator and the mineral owner pay taxes on the mineral production in the proportion they own. Generally mineral owners have 20% to 25% of the tax liability on their share of minerals in the unit, and the operator typically pays 75% to 80% of the taxes for the entire unit. (A unit is a collection of land tracts grouped together to produce minerals from a larger geographical area.)

If anyone needs more information, let me know.

Virginia in TX

Thanks to Virginia and Dylan for their contribution to the forum. Lots of good info coming from you two.

I do not have the name of the well in NE Noble County that was supposed to be dry.

I was told by a pumper that some of the wells in Logan County were doing good, but not staying that way. Some were only doing 40 BBD. I don’t think he was pumping any of the wells, but had a friend that was.

Devon has applied for spacing in Section 21, 24, 26 Township 19N Range 3W.

Things are beginning to move …

I would think you could get at least $500 on up depending where you’re at in Logan! I got $800 per acre 1/5 for 3 years with Greg Taft.

To Virginia: thanks for posting what you heard, even rumors if true or not help us all understand the situation better.

Kaye,

After many letters and calls I priced a small amount of acreage in 18N for 1000 per. Lease in Alfalfa County with similar production is now going for 1500 and 2000. We will see where it goes.

Lee

Lee, Thank you for the information! Wow, 1000 per acre! The way I look at it is if we post every little bit of information we hear, we may be able to sort through it and keep in step with what’s going on! Alfalfa is looking good!

Are there any counties that seem to follow other counties or does it work that way?

I have some very old standard leases with virtually no changes made. I suppose that most people back then had to trust the lessee, but today with the information online and forums like this nobody should be left in the dark!
