My sister and I will soon be inheriting gas/mineral rights in West Virginia from my father. The rights come from both sides of his family. He has told me he bought the rights from my grandmother instead of waiting for it to come through inheriting. I am completely new to this, and I have started researching any information I can find. Also, currently researching our family history online through Ancestry. Our family has roots in the surrounding areas. There are rights in Tyler County, Marshall County, and I think also Wetzel. Currently working on deciphering the paperwork my father has on these deeds. I’m open to any sites, suggestions, or reading that may be helpful. Thanks in advance.
