Info on a lease proposal from Woodmont Energy

Afternoon…my sister and I inherited our mother’s shared mineral rights on two tracts of land in WV. One tract is active and paying royalties. The smaller tract is not leased yet and has gas minerals. I am in conversations with a company called Woodmont Energy… formerly Foss resources. They have made an offer which we may take since through my own attempts to find interested company have been fruitless. Any one have any reviews of this company and what is a reasonable lease proposal per acre?

Thanks KRD

I generally recommend that you don’t sell your oil and gas rights. They’ll be worth more in the long run if you hold onto them than they will be in a one-time sale. However, I’ve helped lots of clients sell because it makes sense for them.

I haven’t dealt with Woodmont Energy, so I can’t make a recommendation one way or the other.

The price per acre will depend heavily on where the mineral rights are located. Can you tell us which county they’re in?
