Grady County, OK - General Discussion

Cactus rig 166 is on the move. Finished drilling the Roberts 0607 12-1-1MXH… bring on the fracking!!!

Guessing the rig is moving 2 miles west to Section 10-6N-7W for the LAUREN 0607 10-3-1MXH and the WAGNER 0607 15-22-1WXH

Thanks, Don you keep us up to date.

Hello, I have minerals in Sections 6 and 7, Township 6 North Range 5 West of IM, Grady County. I was born in Chickasha but wasn’t raised there. I’ve fished a lot of stock tanks around Grady county with my grandfather Oath Light… lived on Florida Street back in the day… he left these mineral to me a couple of decades ago and I’ve always been interested in where exactly they were? I’d like to drive by and physically see whats going on. Rob

@GradyCO.64 your sections are about 9 miles East of Chickasha. Or about 2.5 miles East of Tabler on Hwy 39, then 1 mile south to NW quarter of section 6. Below is a couple of section map pics from my section map.

Neat map. Don. Thanks. Jim B

I previously said’ "Cactus rig 166 is on the move. Finished drilling the Roberts 0607 12-1-1MXH… bring on the fracking!!!

I was mistaken… rig did not go 2 miles west to Section 10-6N-7W… that location is still waiting on a rig.

We leased our rights at 31-9N-7W (two miles N-NW of Pocasset) back in 2018. Google satellite shows a large pad site and infrastructure (tanks, pipes etc) were put in at the NE corner of the section (west of County Street 2820 and CR 1240-- a mile W of HWY 81). I recall seeing the pad over 2 years ago yet imagery from 2022 shows it unchanged.

Got letters last week from Citizen Energy of Tulsa announcing plans for a test well for it and 6-8N-7W with offers to lease it again. I assume the previous project was put on hold due to Covid-19 devastating the industry and our lease expired. There was also some lawsuit (Pauper v Kaiser Francis Oil Co. that recently settled. I got a check in May for fifteen CENTS. KFOC controlled the section for decades before “plugging and abandoning” their well in 2018.

Citizen is offering $1,600 bonus+ 1/8th or $1,000+ 3/16th. Haven’t received a contract yet, just a 1 page letter and a list of drilling costs should anyone want to risk rolling the dice on that (a $16k per acre scare tactic IMO). I believe it will be a rich well so I want as much royalty as possible. Forget bonuses… what should I counter with? Clearly they are offering the least amounts in hopes most people will just take them. Thoughts?

@Randyman this was my experience in section 12-6N-7W … Section 12 pooled again, this time with Camino (May 2022) 1/8th $1,750, $1,500 3/16th, $1,250 1/5th, $1,000 22.5%, $0 1/4.

Previous Section 12 pooling was with Red Wolf (signed July 2021) 1/8th $1,000, $750 3/16th, $500 1/5th.

My takeaway, protest the first pooling and get dismissed to wait for the 2nd pooling. I did protest the first pooling, but then agreed to a pre-pooling letter agreement for a bonus of $250/acre plus 22% royalty. Could have gotten a bonus of $1,000/acre, plus 22.5% royalty or no bonus plus 1/4 royalty if I had waited for the 2nd pooling. Lesson learned.

FYI - my brother was dismissed from the first pooling and hired an attorney for the second pooling. Attorney cost him $5,000 but got him a lease with a $250/acre bonus plus 25% royalty. Bonus more than paid the attorney fee.

FYI - Section 12-6N-7W … latest mineral sales… $15,000/acre … 1/5 royalty … 74 acres … 22 investors, several with Casper, WY addresses …

Rig on location… Section 10-6N-7W for the LAUREN 0607 10-3-1MXH and the WAGNER 0607 15-22-1WXH".

I own in 18 and 19 6N6W. What does this mean to me?

What does “XHS” refer to?

Know anything about Leona Faye 1-20-29-32XHS?

@francis6 XHS = eXtended Horizontal Springer (I believe that’s right). It means the operator is drilling a horizontal well over more than one section with the Springer being the target formation.

Continental has filed applications to drill a multi-unit horizontal well targeting the Goddard, which is part of the Springer formation. Sections 7, 18 and 19 all in 6N-6W.

Don’t know anything about the Leona Faye 1-20-29-32XHS

Welcome to the Forum!

If you are a mineral owner in 18/19-6N-6W, you should be getting all the OCC paperwork for any activity in sections 18 & 19. If not, then there are some things you need to do in order to get that paperwork. Warwick-Bacchus has several pending cases for those sections to drill horizontal wells.

The Leona Faye is a proposed well in sections 20/29/32 of 6N-6W. It will not have any perforations in sections 18 or 19. It has its own set of paperwork.

I believe Warwick-Bacchus filed their applications to drill horizontal wells in Sections 18/19-6N-6W to get Continental “off the fence” so to speak. Warwick-Bacchus applications were continued to the end of August. Continental has a hearing July 29th for old case numbers 2019-001648 and 2019-001654. Continental’s pooling applications case numbers 2019-001969 and 2019-001970 have already been heard (one to two weeks ago) and recommended by the OCC.

Continental’s new applications have hearings August 8th. Case numbers 2022-002808, 2022-00210 and 2022-00211. What I am not clear about is whether there will be 1 or 2 wells. The old case numbers show the well on the west side of the sections and the new case numbers show the well on the east side of the sections. Glad the hearings are happening soon.

Received a letter dated 7/13/22 from CAMINO regarding LOUISE FLUKE 0807 6-31-1MXH- Well Proposal. Any info regarding it and its’ location in relation to existing wells appreciated

You do not have to reply to the letter. It is informational and indicates plans to drill and pending pooling. You can lease with Camino or any other group that wants to lease. The prices indicated may be close to the pooling offers. Always wise to get legal advice on any draft lease as they are not usually favorable to mineral owners and need some edits. Most of us would take the highest royalty and not care much about the bonus since a higher royalty often is more valuable over the long run, especially if there is more than one well.

If you name and address are properly filed in the Grady courthouse, you should have already received the OCC cases that have been filed (in the mail). Two companies are actually bidding to drill for that acreage.

Attached are pages 1-3 regarding “relief sought” by Citizen Energy (Cause CD No. 2022-002599T). Pages 4-15 are lists of rights owners, 16-17 list 18 sections affected (640 acres ea) though they seem to be duplicated so only 9? Pages 18-22 are about an “amended notice of hearing” that supposedly took place on 7/25/22.

These are examples of the normal paperwork that come before a well is drilled. Did you have a particular question?

Martha: off topic, but what are “leasing rights” as opposed to mineral rights. Through my deceased wife, I have 30 mineral acres but “leasing rights” to 60 acres. Seems strange to me. If I lease the mineral rights do I get paid for all 60? Jim Brock PS. I used to be almost a neighbor of yours, but now live in the Clear Lake (NASA) area.
