Garvin County, OK - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Hope there is enough gas there to bring up that oil all that way. Are they hoping to cut costs? Are they doing theses long ones in North Dakota as well?

multiunit with production from under three sections .

That will be a long one! Here is the picture.

Somewhere… they are doing 4-8 mile laterals. But the ones I’ve seen info on were all outside the US. The longest were offshore.

Here are some slides that talk about costs.

Roughly 1/2 of the cost of the well is drilling the vertical stage. By lengthening the lateral across two sections with one lateral you reduce the total cost to produce 2 sections by about 25%.

That can reduce costs enough to make it worth investing in and reducing risk of financial loss.

I’m curious to know if they’re going to be doing anything in section 23.

When I was with my former company, we set an offshore record with a well that was >35,000’. It was more ā€œDirectionalā€ vs ā€œHorizontalā€. It was an amazing well to drill (and VERY expensive). There are even longer ones now.

Rhonda, in order to get an answer to your question, you must specify township and range. There are several section 23’s in Garvin County.

OK, I gathered that was the case, so depending on the formation the horizontals might go in any direction (depending on where they are in the country). Thanks, Rick!

I noticed on Google Earth that there is a nice new pad on my acreage in 3N4W 17. Anybody know if it is a well pad or may just be a parking lot for equipment? I’m also wondering if there is a preferred direction for the horizontals, based on stress orientation…Seems most are oriented longitudinally, and not by latitude. Anyone know the reason?

Sandra, The ā€œgrainā€ of the formations run East and West. By running the well laterals North and South, it allows the fracturing to be more effective. The fractures will run perpendicular to the well bore instead of trying to run parallel. This will allow for more area of production to be opened up.

Is there upper and lower woodford in Garvin or is it mostly north of there?

Don’t know about upper and lower woodford in Garvin but there is evidently in NE Stephens Co. in 2n4w as they said that in the Branch wells they went to the upper woodford on three of them and on two of them they went to the lower woodford. Garvin County 2n3w and 3n4w is really close to there so I’m supposing they have both also.

Also Karla they are planning to go to the Springer on the Jarod in 2n4w so hopefully there is a little bit of goodie there too!

The Hart is being evaluated in 3N 2W.

Correct Rick. That is why I didn’t even bother looking at the pooling.

Tom, is the Hart also being evaluated in 3N 3W as well?

Kirk, a company called R.L. Clampitt has applied for spacing for the east half of 4-2N/2W. In turn they are seeking two separate pooling orders for the NE quarter and the SE quarter creating two 160 acre units. They are targeting the Woodford and Hunton so I assume they plan to drill horizontal wells

Kirk, if your rights are in the east half you should get a copy of the Spacing application and order and the pooling app. if you are not leased. This situation is a little different than most of what you see on this forum since it is only for 1/2(320ac) section.

Kirk, The East Half of Sec. 4 2N 2W is held by the production from the (NEETDSU) Northeast Elmore Third Deese Sand Unit. You were not named in the spacing. If you are sure you have mineral interests in the East Half but are not being paid by Enerwest please contact me and I will find out what is going on…no charge. I will need to see the deed or get the book and page where you received your interest to verify for RL Clampitt.
