Fayette and Lavaca County TX Oil Activity

Coincidentally I just drove down to the pecan farm this afternoon. The fencing crew was there installing the gate. So things are happening. (Technically it’s just west of the pecan farm but this is best descriptor until something better comes along.)

I check daily on the RRC site to see if EOG has permitted the unit by the pecan farm, but nothing has shown up yet. Once it pops up, I will share.

Drove by the pecan farm unit on CR226 today and they are building the pad. I had thought the unit was going to be headed to the northwest…however, tracts are marked as you exit US 77 onto CR 225(St.Johns rd)…and so I figured they are going to the southeast…and then I passed the pad site…and tracts again are marked for quite a ways. So either this will be 1 pad for 2 units…one going nw and the other SE…or the horizontal will “back track” for quite a distance, and then reverse course. they did this on Blackshear but only by about 500-1000 feet..you can see this on Blackshears permit survey. For Blackshear our leases stipulated you had to have a horizontal over 9501 feet to have a unit to exceed 1120 acres up to 1280 acres unit size. We were always told these Redhawk & EOG units would have 2 mile laterals (10560 feet) and have 1250 acres in the unit. The news on this is that EOG is going to do some 3 mile laterals and will also attempt another 24,500 lateral (4.5+ mile) in our area. Permit should be posted within 14 days in my opinion…Still no permits for road usage…but Lavaca county has a new process with all oil companies…they had to agree to a “bond agreement” …which EOG did at the end of June…so they might not have to ask for specific permits per road…just a guess.

Thanks for the information. I saw all of the markers as well and was simply confused but you may have a good point. If you look at the map that Rock_Man posted back around post 181 on June 21 it may be worth it to drill two different laterals or at least permit two. See if NW or SE is better.

Can’t wait to see the RRC paperwork.

Hello all, There is a pending drill permit on the RRC site for a new Redhawk Operating unit. Tried copying the link to this forum but not tech savvy enough to accomplish the task. It appears to be in close proximity to the Blackshear unit if I’m interpreting it right

Thanks for the heads up. It appears that the Parr Unit will use the same pad as Blackshear and run opposite of the Blackshear lateral off to the southeast.

So MR_ML maybe all those markers to the NW and SE of the pecan farm pad are a similar plan. Seems sensible.

Yes that is what they are doing. I saw them with a rolling machine on Saturday on the blackshear…but no other equipment. Not happy they are taking pad space for wells in another unit…we were told that if the well was good they would do 3 more on this pad for the same unit…also jeff steffek is only getting 4 acres in the Parr unit out of his 53 acres…and the pad is totally on his tract…most leases state you should be 100% in a unit, so a little confused here. So that is what they are doing with the CR226 unit or should I say units. I did hear that they are backlogged in final title search…seems like quite a few leases were done with incorrect mineral owners or percentages…final title is finding this out so now they have to track these new people down, offer a lease…get the lease back etc…adding months. They need the “new” units to be where the pipelines are at..and then connect the units from there…and some of the “cleared” units are in the middle…so I guess that is why they needed to do this Parr unit as they wait for others to clear title. This is also happenning to EOG even at a much larger scale I have been told.

All great updates, thanks everyone. For what it is worth, I am sure EOG will want to have 100% of the mineral owners leased in a unit but there is no requirement to do so. If a landowner holds out and they’re a small percentage of the total ownership, EOG will drill the unit anyway and carry the unleased mineral owner’s interest. There are mechanisms around this, so I would not expect EOG to delay their plans significantly unless there is a high percentage of unleased owner(s).

Does anyone know if Redhawk will have to shutdown Blackhawk unit when they are drilling or fracking since the surface location is only about 50 feet from each other ?

Drove all around the Parr unit today and none of the end post were marked on any tract to do the survey. So, looking for survey markers to see whee they are at is now out the window, Also no activity on Blackshear, but the new 8 foot tall pole is in place to the north, about 50 feet of the Blackshear christmas tree. Also CR 242 has been paved..about a 3 mile path, and now it looks like CR 238 & CR 240 might get paved as well they are working on the road..you can’t even drive on most of CR 240 road completely tore up.

Normal operations in situations like this is to temporarily shut down the “active” well while the new well is being drilled /frac’d.

For safety reasons, this is often done by setting some easily removable plugs in the “active” well

FSNN reports that they’re going to start hauling 600 loads of ‘gravel’ tomorrow for the five acre pecan farm pad.

A good thing Lavaca County has some kind of ‘road repair bond’ because they’re gonna need it even before the 2500# / ft of proppant that’s coming later.

I find it somewhat interesting that they are already building a pad site, or prepping to do so, before permitting the well(s). I suppose it is less of a concern that they will get approval considering there aren’t wells nearby, but sometimes you can run into random items with the RRC.

Looks like EOG (Redhawk) has rigged up on the Parr Unit.

Yes, that Nabors 1209 rig moved in over last weekend and they had it standing up by Monday. It would be neat to see a time lapse video of the setup operation. It was quite impressive to see how they were able to move in/setup such heavy equipment so quick. I’m betting that rig moves to the CR 225/226 pad as soon as they finish the Parr unit drill. With regards to the drill permit, the Parr unit was submitted 8/15 & approved by 8/18, that’s proof the process can be quick if RedHawk has all the “T’s” crossed and the “I’s” dotted for the paperwork on that 225/226 unit.

Has anyone driven by the pecan farm pad in the last day or so? Curious how much infrastructure has been put in such as the tank battery. I guess they could just drill it and wait to complete it until everything is built out (and paperwork done).

CR 226 pad is done, and there are (2) 8 foot flags out on the pad marking the 2 wells that will be on this multi-unit pad. Again..I was told these were going to go NW and SE of pad…and I believe the pad is on the southern side of the unit by looking at what little corners are marked..but we will have to wait for the permit to clarify. The Blackshear unit is up and going again after being down 7 days while Parr unit drilling was taking place…looks like the Parr unit is undergoing it’s horizontal drilling process.

Also HUGE water tank…as large or larger than EOG’s water tank to the south is on the 82 acre tract off of CR 240…you can see the black tarps coming up and over the ends. I was hoping they would do a Blackshear well # 2 when the finish up Parr 1, but it looks like they will go to CR 226. I have more info on Blackshear production and some issues they had there in July affecting it…and this will be in another post to come. Just to say was told the CR 226 units will tell the tale if EOG/Redhawk decides to go any further north than that.

Great information. Thanks.

So at about 55 bbl of water per foot on two 10,000 foot laterals that comes out to me about seven acres at about 20’ deep.

Looks like the July (presumably full month?) production for the Blackshear isn’t that much more than June. Was the well shut-in for part of the month? Seems like EOG likes the well results if they are drilling another well off of the same pad already.

I can’t answer your questions but the following is somewhat related. A current FSNN report states that Redhawk plans to drill four wells off the pecan farm pad. This sounds a little sketchy at this point but as is the norm, I report first and fact check later if ever.
