Just looking for a little advise here. My family and I inherited 28.08 AG Coal in Barbour County WV in 1995, we live in Ohio. We have had several companies propose leases over the years and have yet to sign one. Well this year we received a hike in our taxes, called the Statehouse in Charleston for an explanation and they advised our taxes increased because they removed the coal. Well after much digging and frustration it has been discovered that over 15 months ago , one of the coal companies removed approx 7.9 million dollars worth of coal without a lease that belonged to me and my family. Nonetheless, after calling them they offered us 405,000 for all that was removed as settlement which we didn't accept. We are in the process of meeting with an attorney tomorrow to discuss our options. I just want some advise on how to handle this and what the laws are concerning this kind of thing in WV....
