Recently received a check for some unpaid oil royalties from 1994! No interest. I thought royalties delayed longer than 60 days required the company to pay interest. Anyone know the answer?
You may be entitled to significant interest unless the company fulfilled its duty to pay to unclaimed property division as required by law.
I emailed them, and they replied that they were paying me instead of the state.
Send a certified return receipt letter requesting payment of interest according to the statute quoted above. Get proof that they received your request.
I just found a well we had not been paid on for years and years and the interest was a nice addition to the royalties they owed us.
