Windemere Resources

Recently my family received a letter from Windemere Resources to purchase our mineral rights. Does anyone know about this company? Our land is south of Lost Springs and although I am not able to quickly pull out the paperwork I know it is 31N 67W but do not remember the Section. Also, any news on rare earth or uranium mining in that area.

Same question somewhat nearby … Township 31 North, Range 70 West – within Sections 12 and 13.

Most of the drilling in Converse is north of the US highway 18-26. I only see on dry hole in section 6 of 31N-67W.

You can check the Wyoming website for more info on uranium mining. WSGS - Uranium Mining. The main location in Converse County is the Smith Ranch-Highland operation. Not much rare earth mining in Converse.

Nothing much in 31N-70W. 12 has two old wells, one dry and one water well. 13 has no drilling.

I dug into the maps for 31N-67W specifically regarding your questions on Uranium.

First off, M_Barnes is spot on regarding the oil potential—that area sits south of the main trend and her active well analysis is correct. If this were purely an oil play, the “dry hole” assessment stands.

However, since you asked specifically about Uranium, there is a second layer to this story that Windemere might be eyeing.

Your township sits right on the edge of the historical Silver Cliff Uranium District (near Lusk).

  • The History: This area produced notable tonnage in the 1950s (Silver Cliff Mine).
  • The Nuance: While “Converse County” isn’t famous for rare earths, the Silver Cliff District (Niobrara County) spills over right into this area. The geology (Flathead Sandstone) here is known to host radioactive minerals.

My take: Windemere is a savvy buyer. They are likely offering a fair market price for the “dry” oil rights (validating M_Barnes’ point), but they get the “mining rights” (Uranium option) thrown in for free.

With domestic Uranium prices moving, do not sell your hard rock mineral rights based solely on an oil valuation. You might be sitting on a strategic stockpile that has nothing to do with the oil wells.
