There is another well permitted named Polar 155-99-2-15-22-15H. Neither well is showing a status date but I saw the rig on the GIS map. I hope they are drilling you two wells.
My mother owns the mineral rights on property where they’re drilling right now. She went out and talked to the tool pusher on the rig. He told her they were drilling the second well right now and will finish the end of this month. He said the first well had a LOT of oil down there and that wells in that area are producing between 5,000 and 6,000 barrels per month. He also said the second well they were drilling was in a different direction and aiming for a different formation. My brother seems to think the second well is an injection well but from what my mother was told… drilling in a different direction, etc., it sounds to me like they’re drilling two wells both of which would be producing wells. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
Daren:
This P. Peterson well is a confidential horizontal scheduled to have the info released on 9/17/12. File # 21081.
I never managed to find any info on the first well but the second well is P. Peterson 155-99-2-15-22-15H3. NWNE 15-155N-99W. It’s being drilled by Kodiak Oil and Gas (USA) Inc. Unit 328. Started 3/17/2012.
Good morning,
I own partial mineral rights in Township 157 North, Range 98 West, Section 9 in the Oliver Field in Williston. I currently live in Australia and would dearly love to know what is going on in the Oliver Field. My uncle still lives in Williston; however, he is in his 90s and unable to get out and about to see what is going on. The last time he was at the property, they had a drill rig on site and it was there for over a month; now it is gone and there are apparently several large storage tanks on the pad with a lot of activity going on. He doesn’t believe that they have fracked the hole.
If anyone in the forum knows a little more on the Oliver Field, I would certainly appreciate your input.
Thank you all.
Robert Alton Jones:
The well in Township 157 North; Range 98 West; Section 9 is the “Cass 1-9H”; Continental Resources is the operator; the well is on the “confidential” list to 8/26/12, which means no info is available on the well until that release date. I would guess that additional wells will be drilled over time at this location. The Oliver Field is in a good location for drilling activity. You should be getting a nice Christmas gift in the form of some royalty. If you will google “Million Dollar Way” and find a search space at the top of the page, google in Oliver Field, as this website has some updated info on existing fields in the Bakken. Hope this info helps. Hope the weather is great in Australia and hope to visit the place one day.
Thanks for that Charles. Very much appreciated and if you’re ever over in Australia please give me a bell.
Thanks again for the information.
Debbie:
Looking at the GIS map it appears there is currently a new well being drilled to the East of Township 158-Range 102-Section 7 and several permitted areas are noted to the East and West of Township 157-Range 102-Section 3. Currently, I would say bonuses could range from $1800 to $2200 per acre with a 20% royalty. I would wait and see what happens in regards to this new drill and any additional wells in the areas as if some are good producers, this will increase your negotiating power. By all means, don’t get in a hurry to negotiate a lease as this is an active area.
What is the going bonus paid around Township 158-Range 102-Section 7 and also, Township 157-Range 102-Section 3?
Thanks!
Thanks Charles for your info. Do you have any idea who the leasing companies are with that bonus range? We haven’t been approached (our family) as of yet. If you have any idea who is leasing with that bonus range, it would help us down the road. Thanks!
Debbie:
There are several companies in the process of leasing and top leasing in the Williams County area, but here are some that quickly come to mind: Triangle Petroleum, Oasis Petroleum, Marathon Oil Company. Most use a lease brokerage firm to do their leasing. I recently top leased to Triangle in an area around Township 157 North; Range 103 West. Good luck, but again, take your time and don’t get in a hurry to sign.
Thanks, Charles. I had a landman offer us $400 per acre with a 3-year lease and 20% royalty. That is why I was inquiring. So I will definitely wait for a better offer. Sounds like they should be contacting us soon. Again, thank you!
Mr. Jones, the well in the 11-2 spacing produced 65,832 as of February 113 actual days production. 23-14 spacing 86,684 barrels in about 14 months. 24-13 spacing 29,600 barrels in 65 days actual production. 5-8 spacing 11,506 barrels for 26 days. I think you have good solid wells in your area, not monsters, but solid and it may be one well soon but you may get another infil well in time. IP’s range from 470 to 800’s and one over 2,000 by a Hess well. IP’s can be misleading, depending on if the producer has to impress shareholders. I have a well that IP’ed at 172 and started producing at 1100 barrels a day. Some choke their wells to 1/2" and others run them out a 2" pipe for the IP. Production over time is the major measurement of a well, hopefully hundreds of thousands of barrels over time, that’s where the money is. February is the last month I have production information for. Good luck with your minerals.
Thanks once again for your expert knowledge Charles.
Mr. Jones, you are welcome. This oil business is opaque in many ways and I am happy to spread some light to make it less so. I am grateful to Charles Mallory for sending me to this site. I just pass on what I have learned. I should not leave out Kenny DuBose without whom we wouldn’t have this quality site to learn from.
I have partial mineral rights to 157N 98W Sect. 9. At present Continental Resources have a confidential well on site. I’ve noticed that there are other wells in the vicinity on Sections 11 and 12 and also on Sections 23 and 24. These wells have already had the lateral drilled and I assume are producing or at least off the confidential list. My question is what were the IPs of these wells if in fact they are producing? I only ask because they are in close proximity to my property.
robert alton jones:
These are the wells: Hess Corp. …157n;r98w…Section 11 (Weyrauch 15-11h) (IP 824 bopd); Section 12 (Anderson Trust 15-12h) (IP 414 bopd); Section 23 (Hodenfield 15-23h) (IP 1400 bopd)…Continental Resources…Section 24 (Marcy 1-24h) (IP 472 bopd)…All wells are located in the Oliver Field.
Thank you Mr. Kennedy. Your info is invaluable to me. I’m a long way away and although the NDIS site is wonderful there is no substitute for someone at the coal face, is there?
Thank you again.
Thank you for your reply. My family came from Norway and homesteaded the Williston/Epping area over 100 years ago. I have a deep affection for the area as you would appreciate. My uncle Rueben still lives in Williston at the age of 93 and has leased out his farms. I think of all the hardships my grandparents endured farming in N.D. over the years and now this. I can only hope their children use it wisely. Thank you again and possibly in the future for all your information.
Actually Charles, he may be in a very terrible “negotiating spot.” If Hess has a majority of the mineral interest already controlled, which can be assumed if they have a drilling permit, they don’t have to offer him anything more than the average amount in the pooling/drilling unit. However, there are those that might want to get in under the well.
