Who search if I should be getting royaltys

I have property in Harrison County, Texas close to the town of Hallsville, Texas.

There is drilling all around it, so how do I know if I should get royalty?

Someone called a few years ago asking to buy mineral rights.

Thanks for your help.

Don, are your minerals currently leased?

No, they’re not. But there has been a lot of drilling around it within a 1/4 mile.

If you have a legal description, there is a video on the Home page of this site that shows you how to navigate the RRC website. You can check surrounding production and see how close it is to your property line.

Do you own 100% of the mineral interest in that property or are there other mineral owners in it who might have signed a lease? Also, what size tract are you talking about?

If you own 100% of the mineral interest, and it is a significant size, I think it’s doubtful a well could get drilled (in Texas) including your acreage without you signing a lease. If I’m wrong about that I hope someone will set me straight.

In any case, Wade pointed you in the right direction to find out about the activity around you. If the RRC site shows producing wells near you, you’ll need to look at the plat of the units that were formed for those wells that are also shown on the site to see if a unit boundary included any of your property.

If you can’t figure out how to find what you need on the RRC site, post the survey/abstract number and number of acres in your tract on here and I expect someone will help you pin it down.
