Does anyone know which of these sands will produce the longest? The Cleveland, Mississippi or Woodford? I have a bet on this, so I need to know which one produces the longest time.
The Cleveland is a sand formation. The Mississippi is a carbonate formation and the Woodford is a shale formation. Each can vary somewhat in their overall makeup but they can all be very different from each other. As far as which will produce the longest, each is different and are completed somewhat differently. You are sort of comparing apples to oranges. If the bet was based on all three formations being sands, you both lose. Good luck.
George,
Thank you. My friend and I couldn't come up with an answer, so we bought each other lunch.
We were betting on the formation, it was which lasted the longest. I had a well in the Cleveland that produced for over 30 years and if I remember right it had over 200 ft of sand. My friend had been in on a well that produced in the Mississippi for several years. We were talking about investing in wells and how long it took for a pay out on H well and when they would start making profit. That is how the bet got started.
