What kind of tax is on a 1099

Newbie here. I received royalties on mineral rights in Major County, Oklahoma. The 1099 doesn’t say where the withheld taxes (about 5% of total) are sent. Is it an Oklahoma income/royalty tax? Or something else? When I filled out the form for the 1099, I opted for no US IRS withholding, thinking the royalties wouldn’t amount to enough for federal tax.

@turkeyman, most likely you have had Oklahoma income tax withheld. You can file an Oklahoma non-resident return to obtain any refund that is due.
