What is the common definition of "twinning" an oil well?

I have come across a term that is used in connection with oil wells. Some wells in a field may be candidates for “twinning.” Is that the act of drilling near another well?

A broad term, re: “twinning.” Could be drilling of a second, or more, well(s) a very short distance away from the first/prior to complete in another geologic zone altogether that offers promise now rather than waiting for the prior well completion to deplete and plug-back to the “twin” zone. Could also be merely drilling a second well, whether on the same or another adjoining lease to the same producing zone to accelerate the ultimate recovery from the common reservoir.

Thanks for the answer Rocky. I wasn’t making much headway with Google…
