What is happening NW of St. Jo, Tx. / Barnett Shale

EOG signed us up 3 yrs. ago with possible 2 yr. extension. Had a good sign-up bonus, then when 3 yrs. were up, they did not want to renew. Our area is far N.W. of St. Jo, Tx.

Barnett play - even with associated liquids - is low on EOG's drilling list right now with al their success and very positive economics in the Eagle Ford, Niobrara and Permian Basin (among other areas).

Letting acreage go that does not "fit" their economic cutoffs is the norm for most operators. Writing off the bonus and extension expenses is just good business (plus a tax help in some respect).

Perhaps a less widespread operator will come after this part of the Barnett.

Thanks very much for that info. If they went after it previously, it's just strange they dropped it like

a rock to go elsewhere - especially with the initial signing expenses and tests that were done. They must have had some good reason for all the owner activity.

Five years ago the plays I mentioned were in VERY early stages of development. Today I saw EOG press release indicating over 100% rate of return on some of these areas. Hard economics to fight from the Barnett standpoint with low gas and NGL prices and limited condensate / oil yields.
