What does a "grey line" indicate?

Hi all! I am extremely new to this world so please excuse me if I use any incorrect terminology and just generally sound like I don't know what I am talking about, I will need some help!

My mother-in-law has recently started speaking to someone (again) about our family land in Crockett Texas (Houston County/Far East Texas). I have just a few questions about the activity out there and the history of events with this property.

First, the family has a combined total of, approximately 120 acres, 29 of which is ours, and all of the mineral rights are owned by our family.

A few years ago, my mother-in-law leased our land and a company came out and determined that we had a grey line but they never came back to look into it further. Is this indicative of anything? Is a grey line a good thing or will we not be able to tell until someone comes in and digs?

Also, if a grey line means we are ready to have someone come out, what is the activity like in this area? Is it growing, slowing down?...

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Just trying to get an idea of what the next step should be, would it be worth it to have someone come out and dig, etc...?

Thank you in advance!!

What part of the county are you in? Not sure what they mean by gray line? Might be talking about the title. If you send me an email I can send a map of the activity in your area.

Regards,

My mother in law said they "found a grey line" indicating there is something worth drilling for. I have not been successful in finding anything using this terminology though! The property is in Crockett Texas close to Lovelady, Grapeland, etc...I will send you an e-mail! Thank you!
