I have signed 4 leases with EQT regarding mineral rights in WV. I have received my signing bonuses. Now I received a suspicious looking letter from Gina Pointer of GP Property Research out of Pennsylvania supposedly doing research for EQT. She wants a signature and corrections of information that EQT already has vetted and is in possession of. I think this might be a scam, anyone have knowledge of this type of activity?
I received several different landsman inquiries or updates over a years time from EQT. One in particular where they asked that I verify that no other relatives were alive. Thought it odd. But nothing unusual came of it, and drilling and payments went ahead on schedule. But I think using the owner relations website to query EQT directly couldn’t hurt either.
Suggest that you contact the owner department or Division order group at EQT and verify the outside group and if they are affiliated and working with EQT. You are wise to be cautious.
