Wentworth Operating and reassignment of rights - Is this a thing?

If this is not the right forum, please redirect me. On to business…

My mother passed away last year so my brothers and I inherited her mineral rights to the Nichols 1-26 well in Pittsburg County. She had a very small interest, and we each got 1/3 of that very small interest.

Wentworth sent me a letter asking if we would like to reassign our rights to them since our interest is so small. In late January, I replied that for the right price, we would be interested in talking to them.

Crickets. We heard nothing until early March and they asked for more info. Then nothing for a while. On May 1, I sent them a follow-up asking if they still were interested in reassignment. They wrote back yesterday (May 2) that they were not buying property but we could still reassign to them.

Am I missing something here? They are asking us to give this back for free? This seems like a bad idea to me. Someone may want to buy this someday and throw money at us.

Opinions?

Possibly they know something that you don’t know is the reason they want you to give your small interest to them. If they want it, let them pay for it.
