Hi Dorothy -
I subscribe to DrillingInfo, a website that provides information on wells. If you will post the Operator, Well and County information (API Number if you have it), I will be happy to look up it's production records.

Thanks for the inf...

Hi Dorothy -
You and I discussed the Hawg Hunter and the other wells in the area a few weeks ago. Did I neglect to send you the information I pulled up on the area?
Your land is no in the Hawg Hunter. It is split between two other wells. I'll see what I can find out about those for you.
Charles
no, I did not receive any info

I am in the Bertha unit but have been told the Hawg Hunter is the best producing in Lavaca County and is
a stone's throw from Bertha which is having a pad built at this time...

The Well Potential Test Completion Report for Hawg Hunter is dated 06/01/2012 (signed by Tara Rodriguez).
Approved (06/29/2012) on the Texas RRC web site.
Do you seriously expect to find previous production data on a well that is just getting ramped up?
Dorothy -
I tried to attach a map of your area with the unit boundary lines and other information, but for some reason I haven't been able to upload any attachments to The Forum for the past several months. Must not be holding my mouth right or something.
This, however, is what I was able to discover for you:
The Surface Location for the Hawg Hunter No 1H is located about 3,250' to the southeast of your SW corner. It was completed 4/3/2012 with an Initial Potential (IP) of 2,052.0 BOPD and 1,311.0 MCFD.
The State of Texas allows for a 90 day delay in reporting production figures (there is a lot to do to get the reports together), so they have only reported figures for March, April and May:
Total Produced, March 2012: 462.0 BO / 318.0 MCF [AVG 14.90 BOPD / 10.26 MCFD
Total Produced, April 2012: 33,246.0 BO / 22,924 MCF [AVG 1,108.2 BOPD / 764.13 MCFD]
Total Produced, May 2012:16,142.0 BO / 11,014 MCF [520.71 BOPD / 355.29 MCFD]
There could be any number of reasons for the uneven production figures: The well could be "cleaning up" (clutter from the drilling process coming out of the hole, like sawdust curlings out of a hole being drilled in a piece of wood), the number of days in the month the well was actually opened to produce, what the State allows them to produce (Allowable), all sorts of other things - most of which are beyond my experience.
It should level out over the next few months (perhaps up to six), however, and then you will be able to see a more settled set of figures and averages - something at least a little more realistic to base your hopes upon. If you will help me to remember, I will be happy to update you as to it's production figures each month as they are posted.
Something I feel I should caution you to bear in mind before you set yourself up for a tremendous disappointment is that just because the Hawg Hunter No 1H came in at over 2,000 BOPD, that doesn't especially mean that the Bertha No 1H will or any other subsequent Bertha well will. It could very easily be 1/5th of that or even 1/10th of that.
Not that there's anything wrong with a 400 BOPD well of even a 200 BOPD well - they are just "Jim Dandy". They're just not 2,000 BOPD wells.
In other words, don't go taking out any loans or racking up any credit card bills expecting any gazillion dollars per month beginning the first quarter of 2013 or you may end up losing everything you have, including your mineral interests.
Sit. Stay. Good Girl.
The Bertha No 1H has been permitted. Your cousin told me the other day that the pad was being built in the SW corner of his tract. It appears that all of your land is included in the Bertha Unit, at least as it is presently shown in the Drilling Permit. There may be a difference between the proposed Unit shown in the Drilling Permit and the final Production Unit described in the Pooling Agreement or Unit Declaration. You will have to watch for one of those to be filed in the County Clerk's Records to be sure.
The Surface Location (Pad) for the Hippo Hunter No 1H is to the north of your land, across the highway and slightly to the east, really only about 1,250' - 1,500' from your NE corner. Unless there is a lot of timber down your way, you should be able to see it from your front porch. It was Spudded In on 4/22/2012 and is currently listed as Drilling In Progress.
The Hippo Hunter No 2H was Permitted 3/13/2012. It is listed as Well Location or On Location. They are apparently using the same pad for both of the Hippo Hunter Unit wells.
That's the most up-to-date information I can provide for you for now.
Hope this helps -
Charles
PS - I will look to see if I can find the 6/1/2012 Well Potential Test Completion Report that David described. I didn't see anything about it in the DrillingInfo data. Will let you know. Shame he didn't tell us what the results were. David, you still hanging around out there somewhere?
http://www.rrc.state.tx.us/data/online/index.php
Select:
Oil & Gas Completion Query (Column 1 Row 2)
http://webapps.rrc.state.tx.us/CMPL/publicHomeAction.do
Click on the first choice choice:
Completions Query
http://webapps.rrc.state.tx.us/CMPL/publicSearchAction.do?formData....
There are several different selection criteria fields on the web page.
Date Sumitted/Approved
From: 01/01/2012
To: 08/13/2012
Set the County field to:
Lavaca
Click on "Search" in the bottom left corner of the web page.
It returns 41 results for Lavaca County in that time period (01/01/2012 -- 08/13/2012)
You can scroll through the pages looking for "Hawg Hunter"
or change the Page Size (Top Right) setting to "View All".
There are two entries for "Hawg Hunter (#39818 and #46184)
I chose the second entry (#46184)
Scrolled down and Click on the link to view the W-2.
That should get you to a PDF file with the information from June 1 for the Oil Well Potential Test Report.
David, As I have stated several times, I am new at this and trying to understand how oil and gas works.
I am under the impression that production starts up and decreases with time. I know royalty checks
have been distributed to members...just trying to become "knowledgeable".. not perfect by any means.
Thanks for the info though

My Pleasure, Dorothy -
Damsels in Destress are what I do. Part of a Southern Gentlemen's Job Description, as I was brought up to understand it.
It all falls under "The Code", but that's not something women generally know about - just know that it's there.
I seem to have lost the thread I was having along with Joel's response from your question. I was in the middle of addressing your situation as a response to his posting and it suddenly disappeared.
If you find it, would would mind including me in again?
My apologies to Joel if needed -
Charles
Charles, can you update me on what is going on with Bertha. I haven't spoken with my cousin
lately and noone in the Moulton area has any info on the well. I think it may have finished fracing
in Oct. Thanks

Only a partial Completion Report was filed. It did not have any production Test Result figures in it. And so far, no production has been reported.
It may be that they are going to have to build a pipeline before they can start producing the well. And they won't layout the rights of way for pipelines until they drill up the area.
Might be another 6 months before they can begin to produce the well.
Big wheels turn slow.
Thanks Charles. I appreciate your reply.
