Waiver of surface Rights by Mineral rights owner

Our company owns minerals and not the surface rights. I have been contacted about a “Waiver of Surface Rights by Mineral Rights Owner”. The request is for solar panels to be placed on the surface above the minerals my company owns. The company is telling me that access would be provided for drilling wells. Has anyone else been contacted about this? And how do you feel about allowing this?

This can impede the development of current and future oil and gas development, if such potential exists. Be very cautious. There is a reason they are requesting a waiver.

I agree with James. If you use the magnifying glass and type in “solar”, you will see a range of comments on this topic.
