Good morning. Upton County question: If a mineral owner wants to contest/protest the county’s property tax assessment or just have them reviewed to see if the taxes are in line with what they should be, what professional should the owner contact? Also, can the county send the mineral owner a notice of appraised value, then later have the final value higher? Thank you.
Look at your appraisal notice to see your password for Pritchard & Abbott at PANDAI.COM for the appraisal detail. One option is to pull down the WP (workpaper) for each well with the detail of gross oil and gas price, estimated well life, and the oil bpd (bbl per day) and gas mcfd used as the basis for the valuation. For another county, I see oil pricing around $52 and gas prices ranging from $0.20 to $1.80. Gas price is based on gas and ngl sales combined. The economic life of the wells ranging from 1 to 13 years. Be sure to check your royalty decimal applied to make sure it is correct. If DOI is wrong or you received lower oil and gas prices in 2025, then you can get that changed by P&A by sending a copy of the DO or some check detail. Only the oil company can get the economic life reduced. In my experience, whatever changes are made will be applied to all mineral owners in the well. This data will not be available all year, so download and save.
