I live in South Carolina and own mineral rights in 17 North, section 15. As I am new at this, any information would be appreciated.

you are missing your range information,

Sec 15, Township:17N Range:??

A township normally includes 36 sections, or 36 square miles. Townships run north to south, ranges east to west. So what you just described could be several Section 15's in several Township 17's.
