Anyone else get a delinquent tax notice from Perdue Brandon et al on behalf of Howard County, Texas, concerning. SM Viper McMurphy B, C & D? We are apparently being dinged for SM’s accounting errors, including penalties and interest.
Yes-that is exactly what has happened. Certainly doesn’t seem right. I asked the contact person listed on Perdue’s letter if she thought we had any recourse against SM Energy. She went on to say that she has been in contact with another land owner who has attempted, but has not been successful.
I contacted Howard County and they confirmed that they are using Perdue Brandon to collect the taxes. You should contact the tax office directly at 432-264-2232 to confirm that you are subject to the taxes. Have the Perdue letter available when you call.
