Uninformed-looking for royalties

I signed an inherited property mineral lease with XTO Energy over 10 years ago. I didn’t really have any interest and I took advice from another person who did, so I signed it. I haven’t received any payments after getting a few 10 years ago, so I suppose it’s because I’ve changed addresses a few times and have lost interest in all this. Now that I’m older, I am.

Do everyday run-of-the-mill standard leases expire? What does Michael state 31x16 mean? I’ve lost all paperwork concerning this stuff, so I called the Williams County Clerk to get all information pertaining to me released to me through the mail, so I am waiting on that. Not knowing anything, what’s important? Who should I ask for when I call XTO? I think they are in Dallas, to get past due payments started if my lease hasn’t expired?

I have browsed through this forum and I remember seeing a post about water, and I remember I had an acre or two under the Missouri River, so is that fracking water entitled to me along with the oil and gas under the 11 acres of mineral land I believe I own? Is the Keystone Pipeline important to me? Is any of this worthwhile along with the dumb questions? Oh, and by the way, the clerk in Williams County, North Dakota, was very nice to me but she doesn’t answer questions.

Do you know what section, township and range? I can look and see if there are any wells in your area. Hopefully, you kept a copy of your lease or have a copy of the probate with the description.

It is important to keep your address up to date with the county and with the operator. They cannot pay you if they cannot find you.

Have you check with Unclaimed funds with the state treasurer?

There are several wells called Michael State. They are in 154N-96W sections 16&21. Does that ring a bell? XTO Energy (Exxon) had several permits which were cancelled and Continental Resources seems to be the operator now. They have some wells online with production and a few others with new permits. You should contact them regarding the royalties and water questions. Contact their Division Order department. Depending upon when you leased and when the Continental first well drilled, you are probably needing to deal with them. They are located in Oklahoma City.
