Understanding horizontal decimal interest

Question: If a new horizontal well goes through the land on which I have mineral rights and continues through 2 more blocks…would that be the reason my decimal interest is made smaller? Thanks!

Yes, that is why your decimal is smaller. Assuming the well is successful, it will produce more, since there is more acreage and the run is longer.

Thanks so much! I wish I understood the logistics of horizontal drilling but I don’t know where to look to find out more.

Here is a good video from Marathon. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjB3-myys30AhVOl2oFHWrgBmgQwqsBegQIHxAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DVY34PQUiwOQ&usg=AOvVaw3JIkLokGpWvgcpvKgV7Nj9
