Unclaimed Property Fund - Oklahoma

If you *might* have any mineral interests/royalties from inheritance in Oklahoma, get busy checking the unclaimed property fund before it is gone. The OK legislature has decided it can steal $$$$ from the fund to finish an 'Indian Cultural/Heritage Center' in OKC.

Apparently they started building this a few years ago without knowing where the funds would come from for it. They have decided that is can't sit unfinished, so they will take 40 million dollars from the unclaimed property fund.

You would think that if they were going to steal other peoples money, they'd be using it for education, not promoting 'tourism' for the OKC area businesses.

While I strongly disagree with them using any money from that fund for anything, your statement is incorrect.

The use of this money to will not impact anyone from getting money that is rightfully due them. There is about $250 Million currently in the fund and it is very doubtful over $210 million will be claimed at once causing a shortage.

Rick,

Let the native Americans fund it and charge admission. The Chickasaws are contemplating just that.

I think you should fund it from all these gambling casinos the Indians have about every few miles all over the entire state like a plague.

800 million has already been wasted and they want 40 more. All I see is some steel and dirt work. Someone or many has pocketed a lot of the 80 million.

My father passed away several years ago. I understand that my brother and I may have inherited his share of 10.11 acres of mineral rights. His share is 1.685 acres. This is in Lincoln County west one half of northwest quarter, section 25, township 16 north, Range 3 East. I am not sure how to update ownership, or if it is even an issue. I have information stating a well was drilled and plugged in1982. Any information you can provide would be more than I have at the moment. Thank you in advance or your assistance.

If there was a probate done record the final decree in the county and have it indexed. If no probate was done just do an affidavit of Heirship and record it in the county. If you need an AOH I can send you one.

Thank you Tim. There was no probate. I appreciate your offer to send the AOH. Not sure how this site works, do you have access to my email?

I have many AOH documents but I've pulled one that has a place for the legal description which is needed to have it indexed. I am sending you a message with my email address in it or you can click on my name here and then click on my avatar and towards the bottom I list my email address. I'll email this AOH to you.
