Transfer of mineral rights after death

Does anyone have advice on transferring the ownership after the owner passes away? Montana is the state where my dad had mineral rights ownership.

A Montana attorney should be able to advise you. Most of us are willing to work on a flat fee schedule. It may involve a simple probate procedure.

You can use a beneficiary deed. you can get the form, fill it out yourself and go to the courthouse and register it. No lawyer is needed. After your death, the minerals pass to whomever you state on the deed. The courthouse can advise you where to get the form if you don’t use the State of MT webpage and print it yourself.
