First, learn about the business. The Mineral Help Tab above is a good place to start. The National Association of Royalty Owners www.naro-us.org is another excellent resource. They have an introductory rate of $75 for a year. Gives you access to teaching webinars, invitations to conferences, town halls, classes for mineral owners both beginner and advanced, etc.
Investing in oil and gas drilling is not for the novice. You need deep pockets for many decades of expenses, good tax advice for the correct way to file taxes, good attorneys, insurance, probably an LLC to protect from lawsuits, etc. Please get good expert advice before going down that route.
