They have spudded now what?

The unit is called Surfside. Section 123 Block 34. They spudded three wells in December 2022 but we have not heard anything since. Any way to tell if they hit oil?

Hi Rocketpilot,

The Texas RRC (Railroad Commission) website only shows two units spud. One in December 2022, the other in January 2023. There is no completion or production information on the site. Here is the link where I obtained this information.

RR Commission shows only 2 of these wells have been spudded by Callon. API 475-38508 was spud on 12/15/2022 and API 475-38509 was spud on 1/9/2023. No completion reports or production available at this time.

Maybe I’m not looking at it right but I see 4 Surfside wells spud late 2022.

There are directional surveys and everything.

To the original poster: however many were drilled, if they don’t hit oil something is very wrong.

Thank you very much. Would that be normal not to hear if production started yet?

It would be unusually fast if the wells were spud in December and they were already reporting production (i.e. made volumes in March).

For 4 wells, I’d say probably frac in 3-4 months from spud. Online probably 5-6 months from spud. Get a DO probably 8-9 months. Get paid 10-11 months from spud (first check would have all the back pay). Anything faster than that is a bonus. IMO.
