The "Green New Deal"

Who do you people think was behind the “Green New Deal”? AOC brought this subject up when she became a US Rep. Someone else Put Here Up to This! WHO? in your opinion.

The idea of a Green New Deal has been around for many years, and there are many people who have contributed to its development. Some of the earliest proponents of a Green New Deal include:

  • Thomas Friedman, who wrote about the idea in a 2007 column for The New York Times.
  • The Sunrise Movement, a youth-led environmental organization that was founded in 2017.
  • The Green Party, which has been advocating for a Green New Deal since the early 1990s.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Ed Markey are credited with bringing the Green New Deal to the forefront of American politics in 2019, when they introduced a resolution calling for a 10-year plan to address climate change and create millions of green jobs. However, the resolution was met with opposition from many Republicans and some Democrats, and it failed to pass in the Senate.

It is difficult to say definitively who was “behind” the Green New Deal, as it is a complex idea with many different contributors. However, it is clear that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Markey played a significant role in popularizing the idea and bringing it to the attention of the American people.

As for who “put her up to this,” that is a matter of speculation. Some people believe that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was inspired by the work of the Sunrise Movement or the Green Party. Others believe that she came up with the idea on her own. Ultimately, it is up to each individual to decide who they believe was behind the Green New Deal.
