Texas Convention Rescheduled

CONVENTION HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED!

SAME PLACE NEXT YEAR

Where: Omni Hotel 4 Riverway, Houston, Texas 77056

Dear Texas and New Mexico NARO members:

The NARO Texas Board reluctantly voted last night to reschedule the 2020 Texas and New Mexico Convention for 2021.

The new dates will be July 14-18, 2021, still at the Omni Houston.

The Tulsa office will begin processing full refunds to registrants and sponsors as soon as possible, and you will receive notification when your refund is processed.

Please note:

You should call the Omni directly at: (713) 871-8181 to cancel your room reservation.

The Omni is not charging our chapter a penalty for rescheduling, however requested an additional $10,000 deposit.

We do not take this decision lightly, as we know our members would benefit from the timely speakers and topics we had lined up during these challenging times for the oil and gas industry and our members. However, trying to keep our convention in July was proving too difficult and perhaps too aggressive on the reopening curve we are all going through. Travel concerns, working out social distancing protocols, sponsor and registration hesitation, and general uncertainty if the reopening practices are going to hold all played a role in a difficult decision.

The good news is your NARO Texas Chapter

intends to bring you many of the materials that were planned for our 2020 convention, here is how:

  1. We will work with NARO National to have some Texas specific topics and speakers at the 40th Anniversary National Convention in Oklahoma City, October 13-18, 2020. REGISTRATION OPENS SOON!

  2. We plan on converting some of our presentations to Webinars that you can log into simply be going to a website that will be provided, no special application or software to download and figure out. The Tulsa office has setup new webinar capability for state chapters to use (more coming soon on this).

  3. We plan on increasing the frequency of our eblasts with information on developments, in addition to the monthly ROAR articles.

VERY IMPORTANT…

The Texas Bylaws require an Annual Meeting either at the convention each year or at a Special Meeting soon thereafter. We will be setting up this Special Meeting as a webinar so you can click on the provided website watch and participate in the meeting.

Annual elections and reports will go forward. The notice of the Annual Meeting will include the candidates nominated for officer positions. Voting by proxy at a Special Meeting, which this will be because there is no annual convention, is allowed, but Texas members will either have to be present in person at the Special Meeting or vote by proxy under our Bylaws (in other words, the Bylaws do not allow voting remotely through a webinar). More on this to come.
