New to this site. Our family has mineral rights in Wetzel County Central District. The information here has been helpful but we have not seen SWN mentioned at all. Are they a big company operating in Wetzel?
Hi- SWN also leases our mineral rights in Marshall Co. Meade District. I can’t really speak to their operation size in the area. SWN bought our lease from Chesapeake Energy (and likely many others in the area?) who leased our rights originally. Recently, SWN changed it’s name to Equinor.
SWN bought a bunch of Chesapeakes leases when Chesapeake left the area back in, what, 2010? Man that’s a long time ago now. Anyways, SWN will have loads of leases in your area and controls a huge majority of the leases in the northern panhandle of West Virginia. They’ve sold some off, but they are a big player.
