Hello everyone. My question is in regards to all the letters from the attorney for Continental. They are titled “Before the corporation commision of the state of Oklahoma” requesting multi unit wells in sections we have rights to. They are stamped with a Cause CD # and Order #. Is there a website to go to to find out more information, like well names, number of wells, etc. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
John, follow these instructions. It’s a bit of a challenge but there is a wealth of information there.
John- go to the Oklahoma Corp commission website. (This is the way I do it, may be an easier way) click on the industry tab. Go to oil and gas. Look for imaged documents. Go to OAP case files. There you can put your cd number etc…

More great news for the “sweet spot.” Congratulations For those of us 10 miles west, I guess we’ll keep waiting like we and the prior generation have for 40 years. I recall Continental saing they would now be operating 12 rigs or this year in Scoop. If these long multiples take 2-3 months each to drill then just one section pretty much uses up 2 rigs for the year. I don’t see how that squares with the investor announcements that they are also reaching out to hold a lot of the current leases by production.
If they make a multi-unit out of 6 and 7 it will probably take more than 2-3 months. Sec 17 and 20 took a year. That was a pilot project so hopefully subsequent multis will be faster.
The Chalfant is in sec 7, and the Sympson is in sec 6.
You’re doing all the good Ms. Jen!
CR intends to drill another Woodford well in 15-10, 2n4w and a Springer well in sect 15.
Jen or Hutch…what was the name of the first well/wells on those sections 6 and 7 2n4w? I was trying to get it in my head where that is. Is it the Chalphant (sp?) or what?
Just recvd the paperwork on the increased density / 9 new wells in sec 7 02n 04w.
Just wish prices would go up… Couldn’t sleep the other night and was watching the English CNBC and the guy was saying oil would go down to 11.00 bbl. That has me freaking out…not sure if that was pound or dollars, but either way that would be devastating to everyone in the oil patch!
These pricing cycles happen all the time. Laws of supply and demand. Remember that the media gets paid to disturb sleep. They tend to hype things up and flavor their stories. My family has been in the oil patch for almost 100 years. Depending upon the cycle, we would be ecstatic to see prices where they are now. It is all relative. It just seems “low” because we just came off of a pretty artificial “high” that was really nice and really sweet. I have been through much lower prices and the strong survive. It makes the industry stronger and leaner and smarter. We will not be abandoning fossil fuels anytime soon. We should branch out and use other energy sources, but oil and gas are not going away any time soon. This is a very long term thinking industry.
Breathe deeply, you are getting sleepy, you are getting sleepy…
John, would that happen to be a Vanarkle for 15-10?
i saw offers double that about 8 months ago, John.
If it is 1942, can almost guarantee there is no depth clause.
A depth clause limits the zone that can be controlled by a lease. If you have no depth clause, then the lease will go from just below the surface to the center of the earth and holds everything in between. Many leases have a depth clause that is “deeper than” which means the lease holds everything shallow and releases anything deeper than “what ever the terms are”. Rarely, you can get a depth clause that is “shallower than”. It releases anything above a certain zone. VERY hard to get. But you actually do get that sort of thing with Force Pooling. Force Pooling is only for the zones pooled. Everything above and below is open for other leasing.
The actual wording of a depth clause can be varied. Oil companies want a clause that gives them as much as possible. Mineral owners want a clause that gives them as much as possible. I can go into the various ones, but it gets a little technical. Let me know…
M Barnes:
As a followup question to your response below, I’m going to assume that all zones pooled in a pooling order are subsequently HBP after the well is drilled, even if only one zone is produced? Pooling orders are all over the map. Some include a long list of zones, and some are very restricted. For example, there were several early pooling orders that included the Woodford, but not the Springer. I’m sure, when possible, the oil companies would like to throw every zone into the order that they think might ever be productive.
Echo offered me $14K/MA in sect 9, 2N4W.
Yes. I assume it will be Vanarkle 8-15H-10X.
